Duilio's Beard (born July 8, 2040) is an American football linebacker for the Kansas City Coyotes of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Nature finds a way. And on a fateful Autumn day, it did once again. The immortal Duilio had retreated to his mountain home after an arduous battle with the creatures of the forest, looking for a respite from his toils. When he caught a passing glimpse of himself in the bathroom mirror, he noticed the his beard had partially been severed from his striking jowel. He had been working on this glorious formation for years, and now it had been irreparably damaged. So, he did what any man of nature would, and shaved it off to start anew. And when that lusterous cluster of follicles hit the sink, Duilio leapt back as he heard a gasp! His beard was alive! The two beings, having a maturity beyond even their advanced years, hashed out the reality and became quick friends. Duilio hadn't expected to have a spawn of his essence, but was pleasantly surprised by the prospect. He taught his beard mountaineering, the ways of nature, and most importantly, football.

College career

Duilio's Beard did not play traditional college football. But what he did do, was play games with the creatures of the wood. Tested against the agility of wolves, the flight of owls and the strength of bears, DB gained the tools necessary to dominate feeble humans. Some scouts caught wind of a mythical being training in the forests and mountains of Oregon, but only one was brave enough to come to Idaho and find out if the rumors were true. Cornelius Knight, a scout for the San Jose Sabercats made his way into the Idaho wilderness in search of this rare beast. And find him, he did! He followed the colossal sounds emanating from the wood, and eventually cast his eyes on the massive conglomeration of majestic facial hair absolutely running roughshod against the other creatures. "The combination of agility, strength and confidence is something I've never seen before. Let alone a walking talking beard!" Cornelius approached Duilio's Beard and offered him a prospective contract to play for San Jose if he ever chose to set his sights on an Ultimus trophy.

DSFL Career

S45

After being approached by the mysterious Cornelius Knight, it was time for Duilio's Beard to prepare himself for the DSFL draft. It was not something he was familiar with, but C.K. was willing to help. The most major adjustment Beard had to make was to bring down his intensity and ferocity on the field. At a few workout events with teams in the DSFL, many coaches pulled him aside and said he needed to dial it back or he would embarrass everyone on the field and possibly injure most players. For a sentient beard, they were shocked by the physicality packed into the hairy creature.

One team took notice of these unique traits and felt DB would be a great fit for them. And Beard agreed. The Kansas City picked him in the first round, and he immediately felt a connection to the wild spirit of the Coyotes. He joined the squad and put together quite a rookie season that included 9 sacks 5 forced fumbles, and an appearance in the Ultimini! KC was not able to claim the trophy, but Beard and the Coyotes plan on running it back and taking home that coveted prize!

S46

After a strong rookie campaign for the living facial feature, Duilio's Beard came into the offseason with the goal of improving in every facet of his game. It seems as though he is still adjusting to the slower speed of the game as opposed to the wilderness league. DB finds himself over-pursuing ball carriers on a number of occasions, but still managed to finish second in the league in total tackles. If he can dial it in, he'll find himself racking up major numbers. His other numbers were decent, but can definitely improve. But the only stat that truly matters to DB is the one in the W column. And in S46, it was not high enough.

The team was hit with some major departures and wasn't able to muster up the overall juice to get them into the playoffs for a redemption run. Finishing their season on a 1-3 skid saw the Coyotes miss out on the playoffs by 1 win. A brutal way to end the season, and ultimately, DB's career in the Purple and Yellow. With the season wrapped up, San Jose has made the call to bring their young defensive weapon up to the ISFL. It's a bittersweet moment in his career, but DB is hoping he can hone his skills and become a key cog in the Green and Gold machine.
