[ NSFL S2 Draft Combine]

Darren Smallwood declared as a wide reicever for the draft. After starting off strong in the NSFL preseason, Darren Smallwood became the second wide receiver on the depth chart behind Josh Garden. After playing decently on the team, in a six-game road trip, Darren Smallwood was traded to the San Jose Sabercats for the star wide receiver Bailey Cook. In San Jose Smallwood eventually found himself smothered on the depth chart before attempting to use his speed and guile to function as the team's wide receiver following the departure of Jordan Yates. As a runningback, Smallwood was decent. After 5 seasons and two contracts in San Jose, Smallwood announced at the start his seventh season that he would be testing free agency, making his announcement one of the most anticipated and followed stories throughout the season. Smallwood would then sign with New Orleans and string together one of the most succesful seasons in his innaugral year. Smallwood also holds the accolade as the NSFL's first ever single game every down back, playing both linebacker and runningback in the same game.
