He had an impressive debut as a rookie, leading the league in interceptions and defensive touchdowns, and leading all cornerbacks with 3 forced fumbles. He struggled at times to clamp down receivers, but his speed allowed him to make up lost ground and record a number of tackles from behind. In spite of his strong rookie season, Deco was surprised on awards night to take home no awards at the awards show. He was nominated for three awards: Cornerback of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Performance of the Year. Deco was drafted in the second round of the S35 ISFL draft to the Chicago Butchers. Shortly before the start of the season, Deco was notified that he'd be called up immediately to fill in the nickel-back and LB4 spot for the Butchers.
