Aleksandr Milescu (born October 3, 2002) is an American football safety for the Royals. He played college football for Towson (TU).

Early years

Born in Baltimore Maryland to a working class immigrant family. Grew up around the waterfront, as his father worked the docks and his mother became a teacher at a local grade school. Many hours of childhood were spend playing with other kids in the streets- soccer, hockey, etc.. but football is really what captured his attention. Like most kids playing street ball Milescu started off as more of a general athlete, playing both offense and defense. His quickness off the line led him to catch a lot of deep passes with his friends, and utimately led to Milescu originally being slated as wide receiver in high school. Due to the school's lack of solid defensive players, however, he was moved to safety his first year on the jv squad. Surpsing himself, he excelled at that position more so than offense, and quickly developed a love of the position and fighting to beat the receivers to the balls in flight. His high school was nothing special by football means, but as a local standout safety he was recruited by Towson University.

College career

As a freshman did not see much play, often only seeing the field during 4th quarter leads (which at Towson, was not often). Softmore year Milescu was 3rd on the depth chart and started seeing some regular play in the second half, recording his first college interception, which, unfortunately, ended up being his only of the year. His football IQ, however, and recognition of offensive lineups continued to grow and by junior year he was the first string FS, recording a much more impressive 5 interceptions that season. Milescu played his senior year before declaring for the draft. He kept up pace at FS, recording another 6 intereceptions. During his time at Towson, Milescu was regarded as a ball hawk safety, quick to snap to a receiver's route based on his read of the offense. More often than not this intuition led him to break up deep passes and keep quarterbacks giving him a second glance before passing.

2049 Season

Milescu was picked up off waivers by the Royals 2 weeks before the end of the season. Luckily due to a lack of serviceable safeties on the team, he was able to join the starting lineup right away and lined up at FS for two games. Despite only having the flight to London as time to get familiar with their playbook, he was able to record 1 sack, 1 PD, and 9 tackles in his first (and last) two games of the 2049 season. During an interview Milescu told a reporter it was his goal to use these last weeks to of the season to showcase his talents to scouts for the following year, adding that he was confident he'd land a more permanent role at Safety whether in London or on another team during the draft. He clicked with the team well, even earning a weekly Crown award in week 13 where he accumulated 5 tackles. While in London Milescu never actually found a permanent place to live, instead just couch surfing week to week while waiting to see where he landed during the offseason.

2050 Season

Milescu was drafted 2nd round, 10th pick overall by Royals. Returning to the same locker room as last season gave the safety a big leg up against some other rookies of the league, and he made big statements on the field in the early weeks of the season, racking up tackles, interceptions, and sacks. Unfortunately, like the rest of the defense in London, Milescu quieted down mid season. Production was consistent, but well below the levels of tackles per game he started the year off with. Fending off overly curious press after each game must have finally become enough for Milescu, as he came roaring back to life late in the year, returning to form with a number of defended passes and a big pick six that secured the game for London against Minnesota. Despite a roller coaster season, there were whispers of Milescu being a prospect in the upcoming draft, where analysts put him anywhere between a second and fourth rounder.

2051 Season

Before the start of the 2051 season Milescu was drafted by Liberty but played a final season in the DSFL for Royals. During the season there was a bit of a shift in the backfield with both himself and his fellow safety sometimes swapping to CB depending on the week. Despite the position swapping, Milescu's stats remained largely similar to 2050. He recorded 6 less tackles over the whole year and while his sack and int ratio changed, on the whole it was a repeat performance of 2050. Milescu fell victim to the mid season slump along with the rest of the Royals, but made some impressive plays in the last few games which earned them a spot in the playoffs for many seasons. The Royals were unable to get the job done week one of the playoffs, but regardless the safety had been a key part of London's best season in many years.

2052 Season

Milescu got to play his first ISFL season with Liberty in 2051. He shared the safety backfield with fellow rookie Jasper Fontaine. The two immediately became media and fan favorites, dubbed the "Booyah Boys". Milescu contributed heavily despite being a rookie, pulling in five sacks and two interceptions- one of which was a pick six. The safety also contributed an impressive 5 sacks over the course of the season. There was still however, something of a learning curve for Milescu coming into the ISFL from the DSFL. He did miss a few more tackles than he did in the DSFL, and there were a few uncharacteristically quiet games from him during the season. Still, there was marked improvement week to week as he came up to speed in the pro league. Milescu’s contract was extended by Philadelphia during the offseason, guaranteeing that he would be ringing that bell for at least a few more years to come.

2053 Season

The 2053 season was a bit of a regression for Aleksandr Milescu. The Philadelphia team struggled as a whole, and the safety's statline was no different. Oddly enough he managed the exact same number of tackles from the previous season, but failed to pull in any interceptions all season long. His number of PD's decreased as well. During media interviews throughout the year it was clear that something was distracting Milescu. His mind was on the game when it came gameday, but throughout the week it was different- his workouts were lazier, his growth as an athlete slowed… it was almost as if real life issues were preventing him from becoming his best in the ISFL. Hopefully those distractions have now passed and his stats and the team’s winning record will both improve in the season to come. It was not the best performance to leave Philly with, but perhaps moving to Cape Town will invigorate the safety.
