Akaki Akayre (born July 23, 2000) is an American football linebacker who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for New York (Ny) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Akaki Akayre was born in New York in the family of emmigrants, and spent his childhood playing both football and basketball. He had some decent successes in both sports, but in high school it became apparent that he is better suited to football. He played both offense and defense in high school, being linebacker and tight end, due to his basketball training. His raw athleticism was good enough for high school but there were questions if he really is a professional prospect. His family and teachers characterized him as humble, talented but a bit lazy. It seems like he coasted on natural talent and didn't have the best work ethic. These characteristics marred his future prospects as college and professional player. Also there were some concerns about his playing weight, cause Akaki had problems with weight gain and was considered too small for lb. But after spending a summer with his granny he gained enough muscles and looked really different on playing field and in the gym.

College career

College carrer had really rough start for Akayre. he managed to tear his ACL in his first start as a true freshman. The recovery from the injury took the whole season. Recovery went hard cause of his questionable work ethic, and coaches told him that earning playing time will depend on him changing it and working hard. So in his second season he barely played but instead concentrated on training a lot. This contributed to his third season which was a truly breakout for him. He led the team in tackles, forced a couple of fumbles and even snagged one interception after becoming a full time starter. His quiet and humble demeanor in the locker room changed on the field where he really brought the competitive edge and aggressiveness. Akayre also started to spend more time in the film room to learn more about game strategy. He wanted to get every advantage that he could against other teams.

Professional career

2049

Akaki declared for eligibility during the tail end of DSFL's 34th season. Due to the league's rules, he was able to be claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Coyotes. He started the final two games of the season. He also took part in the playoff games with KCC losing in conference championship.

2050

In Season 35, Akayre was selected in the second round of DSFL draft with twelfth overall pick by Portland Pythons. Pythons started the season hot, lead by their defense. Akaki quickly became important part of stacked Pythons defense, which proceeded to stay best in the league. He had several outstanding performances. In week 5 he went to have 12 tackles, 1 sack and 1 int. In week 9 he added 6 tackles, 1 sack and his first career pick-six. Overall he showed some good coverage abilities for LB with 4 interceptions in a season. He finished second in DSFL Linebacker of the Year voting, losing out to Bondi Beach LB Kevin McThumper. Also he got to second and third place in Defensive performance of the Year for DSFL with week 5 and week 9 games. He still didn't have much playoff success with Pythons losing in conference championship to his former team KCC.

Before the start of the 2051 season Akayre was drafted by Arizona Outlaws in the third round of ISFL draft. The team has high hopes for him cause they traded a first round pick of S37 draft for this selection. Still he stayed for a final season in the DSFL for Pythons. While his first full season in DSFL was impressive, earning him an All Pro nod, his second season was even better. While start of the season was relatively slow for Akaki, he picked up pace showing an all around great performance in weeks 5 and 8. In week 5 he had 11 Tck, 3 Sck, 1 Def TD, 1 FF, 1 FR and in week 8 - 10 Tck, 1 Sck, 1 Int, 1 Def TD, 1 FF, 1 FR. Overall, Akayre finished the season as a sack leader, adding several forced turnovers, second in TFLs, and having 100+ tackles for the first time in his career. He played a great part in Pythons season, that finished with 11-3 record, and Conference Championship. Sadly they came short in the Ultimini against Tijuana. Still, his play that season earned him DSFL MVP and MOP awards.

In season 37 Akayre was brought up from Potland Pythins to his ISFL team - Arizona Outlaws, to change one of Arizona aging LB core. His first game against Honolulu Hahalua went well for him, as he recorded forced fumble and recovery. But after bright start next games weren't as good, seeing Akayre struggling with the rest of Arizona defense. After dominating in DSFL he wasn't used to play bad. Meanwhile his fellow draft class linebackers had much better personal stats than Akaki. he played some part in pass coverage, grabbing one int and several pass deflections, but otherwise he feeled that he could perform much better. After first half of the season Arizona turned into contender that was expected from them. Defense played much better, and even if Akayre didn't record tons of personal stats, he still feeled himself being a part of that turnaround. When the playoffs came he was ready to break Outlaws playodd curse with the rest of the team. And they did it, dominated in playoffs over Honolulu and Sarasota. Akayre recorded an important fumble recovery in Ultimus, helping his team to finally win it all.

In his second ISFL season everything finally started to get possible for Akayre. As he moved from inside linebacker to outside, he immediately started to pick up some nice stats, getting 2 sacks in the first game of the season against New Orleans Second Line. His best performance came in week 5 versus San Jose Sabercats, where he accrued 7 tackles, 2 sacks and forced and picked up fumble. Overall Akayre finished the season with 95 tackles, 13 sacks, 4 tackles for loss and 8 passes defended, while also scoring a bit of points with his first career safety. His impact was noticeable on defense, as Arizona finished with second scoring defense in the league. In the playoffs Akarye also showed his importance to the team, coming up with clutch sack in the surprisingly close Ultimus win against Berlin. Overall, his achievements were still not enough for some league honors, aside from controversial Defensive rookie of the year win, that was rescinded anyway. Getting ready for the next season Akarye really hopes to help his team win the rare threepeat, and maybe, get all pro honors along the way.
