Akaki Akayre (born July 23, 2000) is an American football linebacker who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for New York (Ny) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Akaki Akayre was born in New York in the family of emmigrants, and spent his childhood playing both football and basketball. He had some decent successes in both sports, but in high school it became apparent that he is better suited to football. He played both offense and defense in high school, being linebacker and tight end, due to his basketball training. His raw athleticism was good enough for high school but there were questions if he really is a professional prospect. His family and teachers characterized him as humble, talented but a bit lazy. It seems like he coasted on natural talent and didn't have the best work ethic. These characteristics marred his future prospects as college and professional player. Also there were some concerns about his playing weight, cause Akaki had problems with weight gain and was considered too small for lb. But after spending a summer with his granny he gained enough muscles and looked really different on playing field and in the gym.

College career

College carrer had really rough start for Akayre. he managed to tear his ACL in his first start as a true freshman. The recovery from the injury took the whole season. Recovery went hard cause of his questionable work ethic, and coaches told him that earning playing time will depend on him changing it and working hard. So in his second season he barely played but instead concentrated on training a lot. This contributed to his third season which was a truly breakout for him. He led the team in tackles, forced a couple of fumbles and even snagged one interception after becoming a full time starter. His quiet and humble demeanor in the locker room changed on the field where he really brought the competitive edge and aggressiveness. Akayre also started to spend more time in the film room to learn more about game strategy. He wanted to get every advantage that he could against other teams.

Professional career

2049

Akaki declared for eligibility during the tail end of DSFL's 34th season. Due to the league's rules, he was able to be claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Coyotes. He started the final two games of the season. He also took part in the playoff games with KCC losing in conference championship.

2050

In Season 35, Akayre was selected in the second round of DSFL draft with twelfth overall pick by Portland Pythons. Pythons started the season hot, lead by their defense. Akaki quickly became important part of stacked Pythons defense, which proceeded to stay best in the league. He had several outstanding performances. In week 5 he went to have 12 tackles, 1 sack and 1 int. In week 9 he added 6 tackles, 1 sack and his first career pick-six. Overall he showed some good coverage abilities for LB with 4 interceptions in a season. He finished second in DSFL Linebacker of the Year voting, losing out to Bondi Beach LB Kevin McThumper. Also he got to second and third place in Defensive performance of the Year for DSFL with week 5 and week 9 games. He still didn't have much playoff success with Pythons losing in conference championship to his former team KCC.

2051

Before the start of the 2051 season Akayre was drafted by Arizona Outlaws in the third round of ISFL draft. The team has high hopes for him cause they traded a first round pick of S37 draft for this selection. Still he stayed for a final season in the DSFL for Pythons. While his first full season in DSFL was impressive, earning him an All Pro nod, his second season was even better. While start of the season was relatively slow for Akaki, he picked up pace showing an all around great performance in weeks 5 and 8. In week 5 he had 11 Tck, 3 Sck, 1 Def TD, 1 FF, 1 FR and in week 8 - 10 Tck, 1 Sck, 1 Int, 1 Def TD, 1 FF, 1 FR. Overall, Akayre finished the season as a sack leader, adding several forced turnovers, second in TFLs, and having 100+ tackles for the first time in his career. He played a great part in Pythons season, that finished with 11-3 record, and Conference Championship. Sadly they came short in the Ultimini against Tijuana. Still, his play that season earned him DSFL MVP and MOP awards.

2052

In season 37 Akayre was brought up from Potland Pythins to his ISFL team - Arizona Outlaws, to change one of Arizona aging LB core. His first game against Honolulu Hahalua went well for him, as he recorded forced fumble and recovery. But after bright start next games weren't as good, seeing Akayre struggling with the rest of Arizona defense. After dominating in DSFL he wasn't used to play bad. Meanwhile his fellow draft class linebackers had much better personal stats than Akaki. he played some part in pass coverage, grabbing one int and several pass deflections, but otherwise he feeled that he could perform much better. After first half of the season Arizona turned into contender that was expected from them. Defense played much better, and even if Akayre didn't record tons of personal stats, he still feeled himself being a part of that turnaround. When the playoffs came he was ready to break Outlaws playodd curse with the rest of the team. And they did it, dominated in playoffs over Honolulu and Sarasota. Akayre recorded an important fumble recovery in Ultimus, helping his team to finally win it all.

2053

In his second ISFL season everything finally started to get possible for Akayre. As he moved from inside linebacker to outside, he immediately started to pick up some nice stats, getting 2 sacks in the first game of the season against New Orleans Second Line. His best performance came in week 5 versus San Jose Sabercats, where he accrued 7 tackles, 2 sacks and forced and picked up fumble. Overall Akayre finished the season with 95 tackles, 13 sacks, 4 tackles for loss and 8 passes defended, while also scoring a bit of points with his first career safety. His impact was noticeable on defense, as Arizona finished with second scoring defense in the league. In the playoffs Akarye also showed his importance to the team, coming up with clutch sack in the surprisingly close Ultimus win against Berlin. Overall, his achievements were still not enough for some league honors, aside from controversial Defensive rookie of the year win, that was rescinded anyway. Getting ready for the next season Akarye really hopes to help his team win the rare threepeat, and maybe, get all pro honors along the way.

2054

The coming season was very important for Akarye. Before the season Arizona Outlaws were lauded as the most probable contender for Ultimus, and best team in the league. As important part of linebackers core Akaki felt a lot of responsibility to do everything right this season. Also, he really hoped to finally start getting some personal awards. Overall Akayre finished the season with 116 tackles, 13 sacks, 9 tackles for loss and 5 passes defended. He really got lucky with scoring some points for the team, getting 3 safeties and one defensive touchdown. Sadly, this was not enough to get to ISFL All-Pro, but he still got some votes. His best performance probably came in week 8 versus Sarasota Sailfish, where Akarye got 9 tackles, 1 sack with a safety and forced and picked up fumble. His impact was noticeable on defense, as Arizona finished with third scoring defense in the league. Sadly this year also got him his first playoff loss - a real bad Ultimus game against Yellowknife Wraith. Coupled with no awards this season could be called a disappointment for Akarye.

2055

Coming out of Ultimus loss to Yellowknife Outlaws looked for getting revenge for last season and taking back the trophy. Akayre Came close to peak of his abilities and showed it all over the season. He finished up with 16 sacks and 104 tackles. He also influenced pass defense a lot, racking up twelve passes defended and two interceptions, while also scoring one defensive touchdown. Arizona was incredible all regular season, finishing up with league best 14-2 record, and becoming regular season champs. They also boasted best offense and defense by far. In the playoffs they won dominantly against Orange County Otters with 37-17 final score in conference finals. In Ultimus they again met with Yellowknife in a one sided final with 45-21 score. It was the third championship for Akayre Outlaws tenure.

2056

Expectations were high as always in Arizona for this season. Perennial contenders started the season really slow, managing just 3 wins in first half of the season. Their offense nosedived with Outlaws legend QB Sailor in decline for his last season with the team. Despite that they went unbeaten in second half, finishing second in conference with 11-5 record. Akayre finished first in league in sacks with 17, adding 10 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles. It was enough to give him his first All Pro nod, just second team though. In playoffs Arizona went through wildcard against Orange County Otters again, winning 34-26 . And in conference championship won a road game against long time rival Honolulu Hahalua, 43-20 going to their fifth straight Ultimus. There they lost to new ISFL team, Cape Town Crash in a nail biting final with 18-20 final score.

2057

Big changes in the desert were coming. Rookie QB Donovan Winters overtook starting position over retired GOAT quarterback Wendell Sailor. Rejuvenated Outlaws team once again went on a tear, becoming regular season champions with 13-3 final record, and best scoring offense and defense in the league. Donovan Winters stepped up to become Offensive rookie of the Year. Akayre himself added to defense with his 16 sacks, 108 tackles, five forced fumbles and a pick six. His best game came in week 16, against San Jose Sabercats with 9 tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. Once again Outlaws meat Honolulu Hahalua in conference championship after the regular season. they won the game convincingly with 34-10 final score to advance to Ultimus against Berlin Fire Salamanders. 38-14 win brought Akayre his fourth ISFL championship, making him one of the select few who won that much. His personal awards were slacking compared to team.

2058

Season 43 was when age finally started to catch up for Arizona veterans. While Akayre was close to his prime, the rest of the defense started to decline. The season record for the team ended up just 9-7, still good enough for the second place in the conference. The season for Arizona finished in conference championship with loss to New York Silverbacks with 13-20 score. This marked first time since season 37 that Outlaws didn't make Ultimus finals. but while the team season didnt go well Akayre personal stats went off. He finished with 17 sacks and 13 tackles for loss, also racking up 138 tackles. Paired with two ints and six forced fumbles this was enough to get him his first first team All Pro and Defensive Player of the year award. His best game was arguably in week 11 where he finished with 12 tackles , 1 sack, 1 int and 1 FF/FR.

2059

In season 44 decline of old dynasty continued. Arizona missed the playoffs for first time in 18 seasons with 9-7 final record, meanwhile quarterback Donovan Winters continued to struggle. Akayre season was great again despite team shortcomings. He got 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, which doesn't seem that much for itself. But adding 143 tackles and league leading 8 forced fumbles and no other players with dominating defensive seasons (like Joe Reed seasons before) he once again landed league Defensive Player of the year award, and, of course first team All Pro. Akayre got two strip sacks in week 9 against San Jose Sabercats, which was his best performance in the season. Overall worst season for his team was probably the best in Akayre personal career, cause bad offensive play gave him a lot of chances to show himself, as arguably the best player on defense.

2060

Outlaws came back to the season with plan for coming back where they belong - contending for championship. Due to continuing Winters struggles with ball security they relied heavily on their rushing game with league premier running back Danny Nedelko. Arizona made the playoffs with 9-7 record as third seed. In wild card they lost to eventual Ultimus champions, Austin Copperheads. Akayre play started to decline finally. He still was able to get 14 sacks and 9 tackles for loss. Akayre was also able to contribute for pass defense With 9 passes defended. But his overall production was not enough to get even a pro bowl nod. And Akayre didn't even have any standout games this season. That led him to start to contemplate retirement for first time in his career. But Akayre was still needed for his team, and still could win a final ring before retirement.
