Adebayo The Beast Akinfenwa (born May 10, 1982) is an American football runningback for the Kansas City Coyotes of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Akinfenwa was born in Islington, North London and is of Nigerian descent. He grew up in London where he did 3 things, play football, eat and become strong. He ate more as a child than a fully grown man would according to one London restaurant (who subsequently had to close down due to lack of food as Adebayo had eaten it all). The local gym had to relax it's age policy as a 5 year old Akinfenwa wanted to join to do his first bench press and when the gym refused him access, Adebayo demanded to speak to a manager and then bench pressed him. This would become the start of a life long habit as any time not spent on the football field would be spent in the gym. By the time he went to high school, he was already 6ft tall and over 80kg. He was often mistaken for a teacher due to this but did end up teaching students how to be more beast.

College career

Akinfenwa did not have the usual route to the ISFL as he did not go to college. As a teenager, Akinfenwa's calling was clearly football, English football. As a teenager he joined the lithuanian club FK Atlantas as he knew a member of the coaching staff. He spent 2 years there before returning to the UK to play for Barry Town. He then bounced arounda few clubs before moving to Torquay in July 2004 where he broke out by scoring 14 league goals in a season. He then moved to Swansea where he helped them win silverware and moved to several other clubs including Millwall, Northampton, Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon and finally Wycombe Wanderers. However as the strongest man in the sport, Akinfenwa didnt feel challenged at times as he was far physically superior to everyone else on the pitch and began to look at other sports to fill this void. That's how his transfer to American Football began. He tried out for some local teams and while he didnt have the speed, hands or technique for most of it, coaches soon realised he would be an excellent Fullback. As massive defensive linemen would rush the QB, Akinfenwa would simpy pick them up and throw them off the field. Several viral videos insued and he then began to pick up recognition from the other side of the pond. He was offered an NFL contract but decided against that as the rival ISFL seemed more fun to him.

DSFL career

2048 (S33)

Akinfenwa was picked up as a waiver pick up at the end of the S33 season for the Portland Pythons. Sadly he could not overcome their record at the time as they missed out on playoffs but Akinfenwa said that his introduction to the league was both 'fascinating' and 'BEAAAASSSSSTTTT'.

2049 (S34)

Akinfenwa was drafted to the Kansas City Coyotes in the 6th round of the S34 DSFL Draft. Although this was not as high as his potential, Akinfenwa conceded that he had not been up to scratch in his 4 games with Portland and his soccer background was not seen as favourable among all teams. After a slow start to the season where Akinfenwa didn't play every game, he soon found his feet and become a solid blocker in both the running and passing game. He didn't allow a sack all season and became a large part of the running scheme and instrumental to the success of unanimous Pro Bowl selection Zane Cold. His work ethic was praised by Kansas City management and they made the playoffs but due to some personnel issue in the KC team which resulted in 5 key players not being able to play in their final season game and playoff game against Minnesota, they fell in the conference game. Akinfenwa declared for the ISFL Draft saying “All these developmental players are too small for Akinfenwa”.
