Adebayo The Beast Akinfenwa (born May 10, 1982) is an American football runningback for the Yellowknife Wraiths of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early years

Akinfenwa was born in Islington, North London and is of Nigerian descent. He grew up in London where he did 3 things, play football, eat and become strong. He ate more as a child than a fully grown man would according to one London restaurant (who subsequently had to close down due to lack of food as Adebayo had eaten it all). The local gym had to relax it's age policy as a 5 year old Akinfenwa wanted to join to do his first bench press and when the gym refused him access, Adebayo demanded to speak to a manager and then bench pressed him. This would become the start of a life long habit as any time not spent on the football field would be spent in the gym. By the time he went to high school, he was already 6ft tall and over 80kg. He was often mistaken for a teacher due to this but did end up teaching students how to be more beast.

College career

Akinfenwa did not have the usual route to the ISFL as he did not go to college. As a teenager, Akinfenwa's calling was clearly football, English football. As a teenager he joined the lithuanian club FK Atlantas as he knew a member of the coaching staff. He spent 2 years there before returning to the UK to play for Barry Town. He then bounced arounda few clubs before moving to Torquay in July 2004 where he broke out by scoring 14 league goals in a season. He then moved to Swansea where he helped them win silverware and moved to several other clubs including Millwall, Northampton, Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon and finally Wycombe Wanderers. However as the strongest man in the sport, Akinfenwa didnt feel challenged at times as he was far physically superior to everyone else on the pitch and began to look at other sports to fill this void. That's how his transfer to American Football began. He tried out for some local teams and while he didnt have the speed, hands or technique for most of it, coaches soon realised he would be an excellent Fullback. As massive defensive linemen would rush the QB, Akinfenwa would simpy pick them up and throw them off the field. Several viral videos insued and he then began to pick up recognition from the other side of the pond. He was offered an NFL contract but decided against that as the rival ISFL seemed more fun to him.

DSFL career

2048 (S33)

Akinfenwa was picked up as a waiver pick up at the end of the S33 season for the Portland Pythons. Sadly he could not overcome their record at the time as they missed out on playoffs but Akinfenwa said that his introduction to the league was both 'fascinating' and 'BEAAAASSSSSTTTT'.

2049 (S34)

Akinfenwa was drafted to the Kansas City Coyotes in the 6th round of the S34 DSFL Draft. Although this was not as high as his potential, Akinfenwa conceded that he had not been up to scratch in his 4 games with Portland and his soccer background was not seen as favourable among all teams. After a slow start to the season where Akinfenwa didn't play every game, he soon found his feet and become a solid blocker in both the running and passing game. He didn't allow a sack all season and became a large part of the running scheme and instrumental to the success of unanimous Pro Bowl selection Zane Cold. His work ethic was praised by Kansas City management and they made the playoffs but due to some personnel issue in the KC team which resulted in 5 key players not being able to play in their final season game and playoff game against Minnesota, they fell in the conference game. Akinfenwa declared for the ISFL Draft saying “All these developmental players are too small for Akinfenwa”.

ISFL career

2050 (S35)

Akinfenwa was drafted to the Yellowknife Wraiths in the 2nd round of the ISFL S35 Draft. Akinfenwa described the opportunity to go play in Yellowknife as a great honour due to the historic performances of the team and the fact the cold climes of Canada reminded him of London. He was immediately called up to the young team to block for fellow rookie Kumquat Archipelago, a RB out of Dallas, as well as Bradley Welch the current Yellowknife Running back. The first season in the big leagues didn't faze him at all as he picked up a handy 40 pancakes over the season without allowing a single sack. He also recorded his first TD in the league which he celebrated by trying to eat the football. Between Akinfenwa’s blocking for star QB Parmelee and his physical intimidation of opposition players, Yellowknife made the playoffs for the first time since S30. They lost 20-24 to the Chicago butchers despite a solid 4 pancake performance from Akinfenwa. The young team is only just starting to reach it’s ascendancy and Akinfenwa was seen encouraging the less experienced players that the future is bright.

2051 (S36)

Akinfenwa began his second year in the league in high spirits, the team had made playoffs the season before and intended to push on to become championship contenders. The young side was starting to grow into a real force with one of the best defences in the league and Akinfenwa wanted to ensure the offence matched that. He finished the regular season with 65 pancakes, once again without allowing a single sack on Yellowknife QB Dustin Parmelee. This helped lead the team to their second consecutive playoff appearance with a 9-7 record but were knocked out by the team that would make it to the eventual Ultimus bowl in Sarasota. Akinfenwa continued to have a good playoff performance with another 4 pancake game but it would not prove to be enough.

He carried the ball 21 times in the season including another TD run and coaches in Yellowknife have been heard saying that they see potential in Akinfenwa in a more full-time ball carrying role. He made the 1st team All-Pro side due to his league wide stellar performances.

2052 (S37)

To start the 2052 season, Akinfenwa decided to tell the coaching staff that he was ready to be given more of a role on the ground. Instead of just pancaking defenders, he could both pancake them and take the ball past them while he was doing it. His official position designation on league related documents changed from Fullback to Running back, it was time to take the league by storm. While splitting snaps with the other excellent Running Back for Yellowknife, Kumquat Archipelago, Akinfenwa would carry the ball 211 times for a total of 882 yards and 6 TDs helping bring Yellowknife to a 11-5 record and the #2 seed in the NSFC. He would have a good game in the wildcard game with 116 yards and a TD, averaging 9.7 YPC in addition to a 25 yard reception. However he would be slowed down to a measly 5.7 YPC and 51 yards, 1 TD in a Conference Championship game that got away from the Wraiths, the #1 defence on the regular season allowing 41 points to the #1 seed Sarasota. However it continued the positive trend for the team and Akinfenwa was very happy with the progress the team had made in general.

2053 (S38)

Season 2053 got off to a slower start for Akinfenwa as Kumquat Archipelago established himself as the #1 Rb in Yellowknife. He still however managed 1000 all purpose yards as the second option in the backfield and provided a good 1-2 punch. A scrappy NSFC race ended up with Yellowknife just being pipped to the #1 seed by Berlin in a race that came down to the final day of the season. Akinfenwa would remind everyone of his BEAST MODE in the first playoff game as he ran for 132 yards at an average of 11 yards per carry. However in the conference championship, an injury kept him from getting more than 2 rushes on the ground. He did manage to haul in the most targets in the team, including a TD, but it wasn't enough to stop the Wraiths from succumbing to Berlin in OT. Akinfenwa vowed to get healthier and take Yellowknife to where the belonged, the Ultimus game.

2054 (S39)

2054 was when things really began to look up for the Wraiths. Coming back into the year healthier than ever, the dual threat backfield of the agile Archipelago and the bruising Akinfenwa had teams struggling to stop them which led to a well deserved MVP season from Archipelago. Akinfenwa wore out defences for Archipelago to be able to punch it into the endzone a miraculous 19 times on the ground (Some would claim this to be very “Score Salesman” of him but the MVP voters decided). Akinfenwa managed over 1200 all-purpose yards and complimented the best defence the ISFL has ever seen to catapult the Wraiths to the #1 overall seed. They would proceed to breeze through playoffs with both wins being by over 20 points and win Akinfenwa his first ISFL championship. Akinfenwa was overjoyed and couldnt thank the whole team enough for providing him a second chance at elite sport and finally coming away with the biggest prize of all, the Ultimus.
