Early years
Born in Cairns, Australia, Ben Anabender grew up an average kid, slowly getting longer and taller than those around him over the years. Between 4 different football codes he played in the playgrounds at lunchtime Anabender grew an affinity for physicality (yes, even in soccer). Whilst flitting between the diferent sports Anabender gained a particular liking for playing defence due to his growing reach advantage. Throughout highschool he earned a reputation as an athletic freak despite his slim weight, and was repeatedly courted by friends, family and teachers to prop up sports clubs and athletic programs they were involved in. After graduating high school he went to a local university to study ecology, supporting himself by taking season fruit picking jobs popular among backpackers. Taking advantage of his height, Anabender was particularly efficient and helped speed up the work flow making him popular among the backpackers he frequently found himself surrounded by.
College career
Ben Anabender never attended an american college, completing his education in Australia. Instead, Anabender was introduced to American Football (or Gridiron as he's more likely to call it) through the American backpackers he interacted with throughout his working/student career. Falling in love with the backpacker lifestyle, and then a one American backpacker in particular, Anabender spent a year travelling the world and then a full year in the US travelling. This travelling ended on one extended stay in Austin, Texas, as Anabender got involved in a community football league where he put sporting passion and impressive physical gifts to use. Completely dominating the league out of nowhere drew some minor local attention before a private DB coach scouting local colleges happened upon a game and immediately offered Anabender the extra training he needed to make it to the next level. With another half a year of full time training and some help from the well respected prospect coach he was with, Anabender was successfully nominated for the S24 DSFL prospect draft wherein he was picked 49th overall by the Portland Pythons.
