Mathias Hanyadi (born January 11, 2011) is an American football running back for the San Antonio Marshals of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for University of Massachusetts (UMass) before being drafted by the San Antonio Marshals in the 2032 DSFL Draft (S17).

Early years

Mathias Hanyadi was born on November 1st, 2011 to Giovanni Hanyadi and Ciara Hanyadi. He lived in Boston his entire life as a kid, and played baseball all throughout grade school and middle school. He switched sports to football in his sophmore year of highschool, walking onto the team as the 4th string runningback. He quickly shot up the depth chart, becoming the starting runningback for both his junior and senior campaigns. He broke the school record for rushing touchdowns and rushing yards in a season during his senior year, which was enough for him to get several football scholarships to various schools. He chose UMass, out of a desire to stay close to his ailing father and the rest of his family.

College career

Mathias played all four years for the UMass Minutemen, and was the starting runningback for three of those seasons. His freshman year, he was once again low on the depth chart, being the fifth string runningback behind some high tier talent. In his freshman season, Hanyadi only started during one game, yet that one game was an impressive performance. In Game 7 of the season, playing against BYU, Hanyadi managed to rack up 221 rushing yards on thirty carries for three touchdowns, leading the Minutemen to a 35-24 victory over the Cougars. He received the Most Improved Player award from the team, and for the next three seasons, he was the starting running back for the Minutemen. His crowning achievment was leading the Minutemen to a victory over Michigan State in the Orange Bowl, rushing for 156 yards on 29 carries for two touchdowns for the school's first bowl win in decades.

Mathias Hanyadi was selected 33rd overall by the San Antonio Marshals during the S17 DSFL Draft. Many experts considered Hanyadi to be the steal of the draft, wondering how he could have fallen into San Antonio's laps after so many other running backs and receivers were taken. Hanyadi has had several standout games during the season so far, including a 158 yard game against the Kansas City Coyotes, scoring two touchdowns during the game. He also recorded 190 yards on 36 carries, scoring two more touchdowns in a Week 7 game against the Norfolk Seawolves. Hanyadi has been considered as one of the best rookie running backs in the class so far, and is rumored to be leading in polls for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
