Touted as a a pocket passer with size, athleticism and toughness to call his own number in run game and be a chain mover, he had offers from Alabama, USC, Miami, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Ultimately, he chose to commit to his home town team, the Cincinnati Bearcats. After redshirting as a freshman, Jimmies was positioned to battle for the starting job during his sophomore season. During spring training, however, he rustled too many jimmies and was excused from the team. During this tough time, Russell Jimmies failed to latch on to another team.
