Now aged 24, he chose to walk on at Auburn, which had just come off a 2-10 season and had a new head coach. Originally slated to be wide receiver, he settled as 4th string quarterback and redshirted in his first year. However, he saw some playing time throughout the season, throwing for 76 yards and running for 129 with 2 TDs. The next year, he started at the backup role, but the starter was removed in the 1st half after throwing 3 picks versus Kalamzoo College. Man came in and threw for 2 TDs while rushing for another to win the game 34-32. While throwing only 4 TDs in his freshman year (to 11 INTs), he ran for 17 as Auburn went 6-7. In his sophomore year, he got to 6 TDs, 7 INT in the air but rushed for 19 as the Tigers improved to 7-6. His junior year was very good, as he threw 9 touchdowns and just 2 picks while adding 21 om the ground. However, in his senior year, he found balance in his attack, running for 17 and passing for 16 while throwing no picks as Auburn won it all.
