By senior year, he was entrenched in the football team as a versatile defensive player, taking snaps at linebacker, cornerback and safety. He left high school having lettered three years in football, and once in basketball.
In 2021, Garnett was named a four-star football recruit by Rivals.com. Upon graduating high school, Garnett, at his parents' suggestions, took a partial scholarship offer to study at Howard University, where he majored in Finance.
