Early years
LaDamien Beck was born in Buchs, Switzerland, on August 10th, 2003. He is the younger brother of SHL player Marcel Beck. He is a naturally gifted runner and has excellent cognition. While the entire Beck family is into hockey, LaDamien did not feel that was his calling. While watching TV one day, he flipped on an American Football game. From that moment on, he was hooked. He would strength train with his brother, but his interests lied elsewhere. Like his brother, LaDamien has a penchant for defense. He picked the Safety position because of its underappreciated value. Knowing that his ultimate goal was to join the ISFL, Beck focused most of his childhood on honing his skills. He joined some local leagues, but the competition was just not at the level that he would have wanted. He decided that going to college was his best bet at making the big leagues.
College career
Knowing that college was his best opportunity to make the big leagues of the ISFL, LaDamien Beck enrolled at the University of Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland. While not the traditional "football" school that one might imagine, they have a very competitive club team. LaDamien was able to play against some of the best players in Europe during his two years in college. After two years, he decided to throw his name in the ring in North America. During his college carrer, Beck was a standout safety that covered the field with deft speed. He had multiple interceptions and was a leader on his team in total tackles. He ended up being a team captain during his sophmore year, an achievement not given in the past 30 years at the University of Zurich. His teammates voted him one of their favorite locker room presences. He is looking forward to the opportunity in the DSFL and ISFL and his college career was the first stepping stone.
