Grayson Yates (born March 1, 2028) is an American football quarterback for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).
Early years
Grayson Yates was born in Bozeman, Montana as an only child. His mother and father are both ranchers and he grew up living a country lifestyle. He discovered football in middle school and instantly stood out as a quarterback because of his size and speed. When Yates moved up to high school he discovered that the team already had a star quarterback. Yates then decided to switch positions and become a defensive tackle, he was able to quickly adjust to the position and became the star of his school's defense. He broke the high school sack record in Montana during his senior year. After four years of playing defensive tackle, he got a full ride athletic scholarship to Montana State University where Yates decided to enroll. Although he got offers from some power five schools, Yates chose to go to Montana State University because of how close it was to his home.
College career
Grayson Yates redshirted his first year at Montana State in order to gain the weight and strength needed to play at a collegiate level. He started all 12 games in sophomore season and quickly became a powerful defensive force for the Bobcats. In his sophomore season he recorded 16 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 1 forced fumble. Grayson Yates had a breakout junior season with 28.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and 5 forced fumbles. Because of his performance he won Big Sky defensive player of the year and helped Montana State win the Big Sky Championship. During his junior season, Yates was known for playing quarterback during some red zone situations. Because of his size and speed, he was able to get a few rushing touchdowns on third and goal situations. He also could pass because of his experience as a quarterback in middle school. After his junior season Grayson Yates declared for the Season 37 DSFL draft.
