Early years

Mark was born to an English Army officer, Lt. Col Wayne Goodhead and American mother Slyphrena Caprica , in the heart of rural England. His parents were unfortunately a pair of ships to pass in the night. Mark & his mother returning to the US soon after his birth. The relationship between his mother and father was never sour and Mark spent many an enjoyable holidays in the UK with his dad. He spent the first 9 years of his life in America with his mother side of the family. Mark always had a love for American football from a young age having been taken to many an event with his mother & step-dad, and always aspired to follow in the footsteps of the great players in the ISFL. Unfortunately, at the age of 9 his mother & step-father, were killed in a road traffic accident. He returned to his place of birth to live with his father. His father, as part of his military perks, was able to enter Mark into the English boarding school system. Due to his father forever changing work deployments he never settled in any given school. At the age of 11, his school jumping stop and he settled in a boarding school in rural England. Unfortunately, being in a English private school, pursuing a career in the sport looked unachievable. Mark was a gifted sportsman at school, playing 1st XI football & rugby and captaining the school 1st XI cricket team. He dedicated himself to any sport that he partook in. After finishing sixth form he applied to and study Mechanical Engineering in America.

College career

Mark applied to many an American collage to study Mechanical Engineering, eventually he decided to join Southern Methodist Uni. At SMU, Mark took the opportunity to finally play American football. Having never really played properly, Mark had no idea which position he was best suited at. During his freshman year at SMU he never saw any game time and swapped into several position, notably the time he tried punting, many teammates will look back at the moment and remember his red face as his foot totally misses the ball during practice, since then he's left kicking to those with an eye for a ball. Nearing the end of the year, and with a lot of hard work from both himself and the coaching staff Mark ended up playing tight end. As his time in collage progressed both Marks confidence and ability increased, leading to him becoming a regular starter during his second year at SMU. During his final year at SMU, he became a team captain and was instrumental in leading the team to a series of outstanding wins against several rival & a bowl win. During the post win celebration of the Bowl win, Mark knew that his time of playing American football had only just started.

Draft Night

Mark was selected by the Portland Pythons as the 28th pick in the S30 DSFL draft in the 4th round. He was the second TE taken during the draft.

DSFL & ISFL Season Overview

S30 Mark was the number 1 TE for the Portland Pythons in his rookie year. He contributed well throughout his season, never really setting the field ablaze with his play but was all ways solid on the field. He was well ultised in both the pass and the run games, with Portland multiple QB & RB scheme. He was able to find the End Zone on two occasions in his rookie year. Hopefully his first off-season will be a top opportunity for him to progress and reach the heights that he has shown he can make.
