Mo Gago (born February 29, 2016) is an American football defensive tackle who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Columbia University (CU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

"Mo Gago was born in the Philippines, the middle kid of 7 in his family, and only male. He spent his younger years in the Phillippines, until he was brought to the States by his aunt and uncle, after they wanted him to get a better life. Moving to Hobooken, New Jersey. He never return to the Phillippines until after his junior year of college.

When he came to the States he got a part time job to make some cash, working at an asian groccery store carrying heavier object around. That's where he did most of his weight training until he got into college.

He didn't play football until his senior year of High School, finally giving in to the head football coach asking him to join. And he was a naturally, playing well in that season, enough to get a scholarship from Columbia University, not a preimer stop, but at least a scholarship."

College career

"Because he was very green, Mo Gago redshirted his freshman year. In that year he was learning how to play both defensive and offensive side of the ball better, as well as how to improve his workout routine to improve both his strength and his cardio. He didn't get any in-game practice until near the end of the season.

Next year he would be a substitute for Columbia, playing both Center and Nose Tackle for them when they need to swap a guy out. It was quickly realized that he couldn't play offensive line at all and was instead told to only focus on the defensive side of things. He wouldn't make his first start until the third to last game of the season. His final three games were good but not anything to write home for.

In his sophomore year he would start the full time at Nose Tackle. He would get 4 sack from that position, and be a force, but not one that made a big impact to the casual fans.

It wasn't until his Junior, and last year, that he made a name for himself, as Columbia would end up playing Notre Dame, where he got 3 sacks in the game, making highlights across ESPN."

Professional career

DSFL Career

London Royals S37

Mo Gago would be picked up off waivers near the end of the S37 season by the London Royals. In this season he wouldn't play much, only starting 2 games. Doing nothing of relevance.

London Royals S38

After the season ending, Mo Gago would enter the S38 DSFL draft, and be taken 2nd Overall by the same team that claimed him, the Royals. Before the season started, Gago would be named the defensive captain by the Royals, despite the objection of Gago.

With the season starting, Gago would end up playing all 14 games for the Royals this season, but failed to make the DSFL playoffs with him and his teammates, as the Royals would finish with a 9-5 record, 3rd best in the league and conference. But despite that, Gago would be a solid force on the Royals roster, being the #2 DT for the Royals, and often lining up over the center. At the season end, Mo Gago would finish the season with 44 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble, which he would recover. His first sack would take a while to come though, as he would get in the week 11 start against Bondi, in which he sacked Smokin' Jay for the loss.

ISFL Career

Yellowknife Wraiths S39

After being drafted 12th overall by the Yellowknife Wraiths, Mo Gago would make his ISFL debut immediately. Being named the starting defensive tackle for the Wraiths, replacing previous defensive tackle Absolute Unit, who moved to defensive end. His rookie season would start out slow for Gago, as he'd get two or fewer tackles in his first 4 games. However during those 4 games, the Wraiths defense were lights out, not allowing a single TD, and only giving up 13 points, all which happened in the first game. In their next game, against the 2nd place Sailfish, the defense wasn't perfect, but Gago was able to rack up 5 tackles on the day. It would take until game number 7 for Gago to get his first sack on the season, as he would sack the Butchers QB in a 62-14 victory for the Wraiths. And to end the season, week 13, Gago would reach a career high in tackles, at 6. And in the end, he'd finish with 37 tackles and 2 sacks.

But the Wraiths season wasn't done there, as they would make the playoffs as the first seed and face the Butchers in the 2nd round. In a competitive game, despite what the final score says, the Wraiths would manage to pull out a victory to make the finals, with Gago getting 6 tackles in said game. And in the Ultimus, the Wraiths would destroy the defending champs in a 34-6 victory, with Gago playing a weaker role in the game, getting just 2 tackles.

Yellowknife Wraiths S40

S40 marks Gago's sophomore season, and the season after he won the Ultimus in his first year. With Absolute Unit being moved to the be the Wraiths quarterback, Gago for a second year in a row would replace him on the defensive line, play at the edge for all 16 games. The move was somewhat successful for Gago, as he would finish the season with 24 tackles, 37 lower than his rookie season, but get 3 more sacks than the previous total, giving him 5. But it took a while for Gago to get adjusted to the new position, getting 2 sacks in his first 4 games, but getting 3 sacks and 1 safety in the final 4 games.

The Wraiths would make it back into the playoffs as the number 1 seed in their conference. They would face Chicago in the semi-finals, where Gago wasn't very productive, getting only one tackle, but that one tackle was a big one, being a safety on his former QB. But in the finals, like most of the Wraiths defense, Gago was invisible, and failed to help the Wraiths repeat as champions.

Yellowknife Wraiths S41

S41 might have been the start of becoming a household name for Mo Gago. He took a big step in the statistical category, reaching double digits sacks for the first time in his young career, and finishing tied for the team lead in sacks on the season. Despite getting reaching a career high there, he failed to get a single tackle for loss and failed to get more tackles than he did in his rookie season.

And for the first time in Mo Gago's ISFL career, the Wraiths failed to finish first in their conference, finishing second, one game behind the emerging Cape Town Crash. With finishing second, the Wraiths hosted the Sailfish in the conference semi-finals, where they would go on to lose horribly, 40-16. A game where Gago himself failed to show up much, only recording one sack and two tackles in the game.

Despite all of that, Gago also proved to the Yellowknife faithful that he is happy to be playing for the team, and signed a long-term contract this season with the Wraiths to hopefully finish his career out playing for them.

Yellowknife Wraiths S42

S42 marked the season that Gago would be starting to enter his prime, which you might have thought would have been the previous season based on his stats. He started out slow, just get 4 tackles in his first 4 games, 3 of which came from the same game, and getting a single sack. But he would turn things up, getting back to back games of 4 tackles and a sack against both Chicago and Baltimore. Which would start a streak of Gago getting a sack in 11 straight games, only missing to get a sack in the last game of the season. However that performance failed to help the Wraiths capitalize on things, as they would end up losing 7 of those 11 games, and knock them out of making the playoffs, for the first time in Gago's Wraiths career. But a season that helped show the yellowknife faithful that their S40 1st round pick might not be a bust after all.

Yellowknife Wraiths S43

Mo Gago's fifth year in the league was his breakout year, one that was capped off with his first ever all-pro selection. And unlike other seasons where Gago would go on a cold streak, either at the start of the season or midway through the season, this one was not the case, with Gago being able to show up each game in the season. And by the end of the season, you would see Mo Gago reaching career high in tackles, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and sacks. With which the forced fumbles would tie him for the lead league, and the other stats would have him either lead or be tied for lead amongst all the other defensive tackles in the ISFL. However the impressive performance by Mr. Gago in this season failed to show up in the team, as the Wraiths would finish with a losing record, going 7-9 on the season, and missing the playoffs for yet another season.
