Maple Dogwood (born May 5, 2034) is an American football running back who is currently preparing for the DSFL Draft. He played college football for the University of Georgia.

Early years

Maple Dogwood was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia to Oak and Violet Dogwood. He expressed a keen interest in sports from a young age and excelled in the youth ranks. While he enjoyed baseball, basketball, and tennis, his true love was with the game of football. His compact statute as well as his incredible speed made him legendary in the local youth leagues, which helped foster his undying love for the pigskin. Both of his parents graduated from the University of Georgia and he grew up attending games in Athens on a regular basis, which is why UGA was always his dream school. After just two standout seasons at Midtown High School, the college offers came rolling in, but once he received the offer from Georgia it was over. As he put it "I was always meant to be a Bulldog."

College career

From the moment he set foot on campus, Dogwood was turning heads. He joined an already deep running back room his freshman season, but that didn't stop him from making a name for himself within the program and nationally. He scored 10 touchdowns that season before taking hold of a starting role his sophomore and junior seasons. In those two years, Dogwood led Georgia to back-to-back National Championships and was a two-time 1st team All-American. He finished runner-up in the Heisman Trophy his junior year after amassing 1,962 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. Having already graduated in three years, he knew that he had accomplished everything he possibly could in Athens and decided to declare for the draft and enter the DSFL.

S44

Dogwood entered the S44 ISFL Draft as one of the top projected running backs. Most mock drafts had him coming off the board in the latter part of the first round, but Dogwood ultimately fell to 16th overall in the 2nd round to the San Jose SaberCats. In his first season with San Jose, he rotated between running back and fullback to provide an added boost to the San Jose offense. The SaberCats finished 3-13 for the season and did not make the playoffs. On the season, Dogwood carried the ball 60 times and totaled 248 rushing yards, scoring 3 TD. Through the air, Dogwood caught 18 passes for 147 yards. Entering the S45 season, Dogwood looks to play an increased role in San Jose as they continue their rebuild towards contention. The SaberCats continue to build their new and improved roster via the draft and have spent considerable resources both in the scouting and development realms. Of note, Dogwood had long wanted to enter the coaching ranks after his playing career is over and expressed an interest to aid in the scouting and pre-draft process in the future.

S45

In the S45 season opening victory, Dogwood had 21 yards on nine touches and played both running back and fullback for the SaberCats. His increased focus on speed and endurance in the offseason have put him in prime contention for an increased workload this season.
