Deckerd "Metal Cattle Nightmare" DeShaw (born May 27, 2028) is an American football safety who is currently playing for the Tijuana Luchadores in the DSFL and is a future player for the New Orleans Second Line in the ISFL. He played college football for Duke University and has played as a waiver prospect during the last few games of Season 36 of the DSFL for the Bondi Beach Buccaneers.

Early years

Deckerd was born in Seattle but spent most of his childhood in Mabton, a small countryside city in Washington. As a child, he showed a lot of interest (and prowess) in tractor lassoing. He moved to Mabton when he was 5 years old, as his parents understood the talent that they had in the kid. Before his 8th anniversary, DeShaw was already one of the best young tractor lassoists in the Pacific Northwest, as there were only five of them in the region. Nicknamed 'Metal Cattle Nightmare', he quickly rised up the senior rankings but his interest had fallen just as fast. As a 13 year old, he had won all the available tourneys so he moved on to a new challenge, going to school. This proved to be a real challenge as he had to actually think about his performance. As a freshman in high school, now back in Seattle, his grades were very below average but he had a new passion, table tennis. He began playing table tennis in the junior varsity team at Ballard High School and, whilst not the best, he was having fun. As time passed, his grades where still very bad but his table tennis skill had risen, gaining more local fame, against all odds, for the second time in his life. This gathered the attention of scouts from all states, including most Division III schools but in particular Coach Bike Krasinski of the Duke Blue Devils table tennis team. Coach Bike began recruiting DeShaw in his junior season and the interest was mutual, but his grades were so bad, that he literally could not feasibly go to college since it would be absurd that someone like this could get a scholarship. But Coach Bike was determined, so he allegedly began tutoring DeShaw on his more difficult classes like basic math and alphabet discovery. Not too long after this, DeShaw was able to graduate from Bellard High School with an amazing 1.3 GPA and immediately enrolled in Duke University.

College career

As a freshman, DeShaw was part of the Bluepad Devils, the table tennis team at Duke. Although he was fairly decent for a student that graduated with a 1.3 GPA, he got bored with the sport very quickly too, not even going to practice just two months into the season. Despite Coach Bike's efforts to keep him in the team, he dropped table tennis altogether midway into his freshman year. In his sophomore season, DeShaw was at the Wallace Wade Stadium, Duke's football stadium, not actually watching, but just admiring the green field as he remembered his past life, lassoing tractors, this fueled his competitive spirit up again and he tried out for the football team, as it was the first sport that he saw immediately after this change of heart. DeShaw asked for a tryout to Coach Hike Watchinski and was granted a session even though he had never played football in his life. He miraculously got a spot on the team and eventually a scholarship to play football at Duke. In his junior season, DeShaw was a starting Safety for the Blue Devils, playing on every game and amassing 75 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 10 passes defended and 4 interceptions, being named 2nd Team All-ACC on a Duke team that went 4-9. As a Senior, he only got better, acumulating 94 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 10 passes defended and 7 interceptions, leading the conference in the latter and was named Defensive Back of the Year in the ACC and 1st Team All-ACC. His team was better too, going 10-3 and securing a spot in the Doritos Locos Tacos Bowl sponsored by Doritos. DeShaw was named Doritos Locos Tacos Bowl MVP and declared that he would be entering the DSFL waivers as his college career ended.

College career statistics

DeShaw played as both safety positions in his two year career with the Blue Devils. Known for having a lightning fast reaction to the pass and a big time hitter, he accumulated 169 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 20 passes defended, 11 interceptions, 3.0 sacks and 2 touchdowns that came from interceptions.
