Antoine Winfield Jr. (born August 16, 1931) is an American football safety who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Minnesota (MIN) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Winfield Jr, the son of the NFL player Antoine Winfield grew up in Minnesota. The family moved to the Woodlands in Texas where he attended the local Highschool. He was 2 year starter at the school and additionally was also the kick returner for the team. As a Senior, he managed to get 87 tackles, 5 forced fumbles and one interception. He was named the Montgomery County Player of the year. Winfield Jr was considered a two-star recruit coming out of highschool and accepted a scholarship from Minnesota over offers from several different Universities. All though Minnesota is not the biggest University, Winfield was still very excited and new he would still get a shot at the NFL or ISFL. During Highschool his Dad helped him a lot with improving his feel for the game, his speed and tackling. He played a very big part in why Winfield made it to the NFL and later into the ISFL.

College career

As a true freshman at Minnesota, Winfield Jr, played in 12 games and made nine starts. During his freshman season Winfield Jr. amassed 52 tackles, 1 interception and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. In his second season he played four games before suffering an injury that ended his season right then and there. His final stats were 20 tackles and a sack. In his third season he also played 4 games, recording 17 tackles and an interception. In his fourth season he returned from injuries and managed to be named a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. After being named a first-team All American and Big Ten Defensive Back of the year during his final year he decided to declare for the NFL Draft. He thought about delcaring for the ISFL Draft as well but decided against it. As it turns out, Winfield Jr. Decided to declare for the DSFL draft after two successful Seasons in the NFL.

S38 DSFL

After being selected in the 4th round of the DSFL, Winfield had a lot to prove! He was happy that he landed in Minnesota. The reason why he most likely slipped in the draft was because he told every GM, that he wants to go up to the big league after 1 season in the DSFL. Nevertheless he wanted to make the most out of his season in the DSFL. In Week 3 of the Preseason Winfield had probably THE performance of the season! He finished the game with 2 tackles, 3 Pass deflections, 3 INTERCEPTIONS and defensive touchdowns. Somehow Minnesota still managed to lose the game but that was their only loss of the preseason. It turned out that Winfield was gonna be used more for the strong safety position since he was a bit more versatile. This put him more into the position to get sacks rather than Interceptions. During the regular season he managed to get 6 sacks and 2 INTs. That is a solid rookie season but was not happy with himself for sure! The ducks managed to get into the playoffs where they sadly lost in the semifinals to the Coyotes. Now Winfield is preparing for the ISFL, he has a favourite team and it looks like that will be his most likely landing spot.

S39

After being selected in the second round of the S39 ISFL draft, Winfield got called up instantly into the big leagues. He started his games at FS and finished the season with 6 Interceptions, tied for 2nd in the league. Allthough his tackles sadly were on the low side it was a very good rookie season and he got crowned with the Defensive Rookie of the year award! Baltimore was still in a down year so the expectations weren't high and the Hawks finished with a record of 6-10 and missed out on the playoffs. The highlight of the season for Winfield Jr was the W13 performance against Berlin. He finished the game with 2 Tackles, 2 Pass Deflections and 2 Interceptions. The hawks had an amazing draft and are looking to hit their strides now. They are looking to hit the playoffs in S40 but they might be just a season too young.
