Trey Staley (born January 4, 2006) is an American football safety for the Tijuana Luchadores of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for Clemson University (Clemson) before being drafted by the Tijuana Luchadores in the 2026 DSFL Draft (S11).

Early years
The son of former NFL running back Duce Staley, Trey knew at an early age he wanted to play football for a living. He attended Airport High School in Columbia, SC, where his father had been an All-State receiver in the early 90s. Trey had played wide receiver in middle school, but early in his freshman year a college recruiter saw him & suggested he try playing defense instead. From then on, he went on to star for the Eagles as a safety, recording 318 tackles & 25 interceptions in 44 games of high school football & leading his team to a state semi-final in his junior year.
College career
Coming out of high school, Staley received a number of offers from Division I schools, including South Carolina (Duce's alma mater), Florida State & Auburn, but in an attempt to step out of his father's shadow, he decided to go to USC's in-state rival, Clemson. As a freshman, Trey was thrust into action pretty quickly due to an injury to the Tigers' starting strong safety. After that, he never gave up the spot, starting the last 9 games of the season, recording 44 tackles, 2 sacks & 3 interceptions. Heading into his sophomore year as the incumbent starter, Staley started all 13 games including Clemson's appearance in the Orange Bowl, recording 74 tackles, 4 sacks & 5 interceptions.

DSFL career
Staley left Clemson after 2 years to pursue a professional career, entering the 2026 DSFL Draft. In a draft class loaded with safeties, there was no guarantee he'd be selected in the 1st round, but after hearing from one scout who claimed to have Staley at the "top of his board", it appeared to be almost a lock. With the 4th & final pick in the 1st round, Trey was picked by the 3-time reigning champions of the DSFL, the Tijuana Luchadores.
