Teddy Murphy (born December 28, 1993) was an American football linebacker for the Portland Pythons of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).
Early years
Teddy Murphy was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to loving parents with names. The family later moved to Florida where they spent a period of time. Teddy was initially a runner, but was recruited to the football team after he tackled an opposing school's runner at the finish line of a cross-country race. Coach Coachman was impressed with Murphy's form and brought him to the next football practice to try out. From then on Murphy never looked back and always sought to put himself in a position to hit people on the football field. During his only season playing high school football Murphy set the state record for most career tackles with 1738 in one season alone. By the final game that season opposing teams had trouble finding receivers willing to go over the middle of the field on a route and a single back willing to cross the line of scrimmage.
College career
After such an exemplary season in high school Teddy was offered a full ride to Baltimore Community College in Baltimore County, MD. So he took it. From there Murphy eventually caught the eye of Coach Mancoach just up the Baltimore Beltway at Towson University and successfully made the team after earning his associate's degree and transferring. This did not come with the financial considerations that Baltimore Community College offered him so Park ended up working as security at local bars uptown. Murphy credits that work experience as what really gave him the opportunity to hone his craft and absolutely murder his opponents with truly vicious tackles. "Pads and training dummies are stupid and I hate them." Murphy gave that quote in an interview with the school paper and landed himself in hot water with the team ultimately resulting in his benching the next week in what ended up being an embarassing 70-17 defeat at the hands of local D3 school McDaniel College. After that game Murphy never left the field for the Tigers.
