"Tank ""McBiggie"" McGibbons (born October 7, 2029) is an American football [[wp:Linebacker|linebacker] who is currently playing in his first develop league season.He played college football for Wabash College (Wabash) before being the first overall pick in the 2053 DSFL Draft (S38)."

Early years

Tank was born to Judy and Ed McGibbons near Greenwood Indiana. He grew up on the family farm, helping with the chores everyday. In his rare off time, he played football in the fall and wrestled in the winter. Spring and Summer were reserved for farm work, given those are the busier times. From a young age, Tank has always excelled at physical feats. He credits his farm upbringing for that. His father Ed noticed Tank's ability at a young age, and helped his son design and build his own workout equipment that they stored in a side yard on the farm. It was here that Tank honed his explosive power. He credits working with the cattle on helping his endurance and overall strength. This endurance and strength helped him earn several honors as a wrestler, placing in several meets and invitationals during his childhood. It is his training as a wrestler that he credits for his footwork.

College career

"Tank elected to attend Wabash College, a small division 3 college in Crawfordsville, IN. Given his size and ability, he was a day 1 starter. Over his freshman year, Tank recorded 4 pancakes and allowed 9 sacks as Right Guard. Unsatisfied with his performance, Tank returned home for the summer and designed what he called the ""pancake machine"". It was a weighted machine that helped Tank develop his finishing power. The following season, Tank recorded a team leading 54 pancakes and allowed 8 sacks, this time as the Left Guard. He continued to hone and develop his skills year over year. He earned All-American honors his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Having lead all of division 3 in pancakes and allowed sacks his senior season, Tank attracted the attention of ISFL scouts and was invited to attend the combine in preparation for the 38th season. Tank finished his college career as an offensive line specialist, having played multiple snaps at every position."

Tank McGibbons was selected first overall by the Dallas Birddogs in the S37 DSFL draft. Following this selection, he was transitioned from an offensive lineman to the MLB1 during the 2052 campaign. Tank was a part of a stout defense full of future ISFL stars, he recorded 73 total tackles, forced 2 fumbles, and recorded 2 sacks. Not satisfied with just being a run stopping monster in the middle, Tank dropped back in coverage successfully 4 times, and even blocked a field goal. Quickly rising in the ranks of the locker room, Tank emerged as a leader on the squad

Following a successful season in the DSFL, Tank McGibbons was selected first overall by the Austin Copperheads in the S38 ISFL draft. Upon signing his contract, Tank found himself called up immediately to the big leagues, where he played in all 16 games of the season, and started 14 of those games. During his rookie ISFL season, Tank was second in the league in defensive touchdowns, taking his two interceptions to the house. Tank also recorded 69 sacks, a tackle for loss, and 3 sacks. Overall this was an impressive rookie season for a young linebacker fresh off his rookie DSFL season. It would seem that Tank McGibbons will be making an impact for years to come. Additionally, during the season, Tank once again found himself rising within the locker room. It appears that Austin is looking to build a stout defense, one of the cornerstones of which will be Tank McGibbons.

During his sophomore season for the Copperheads, Tank exhibited his athleticism by leading the LB corps in passes defended. Buoyed by the stout defense, the Copperheads made a serious run at a title, but fell short in the playoffs, losing on a last minute score. During this impressive season, Tank started all 16 games played by Austin recording 79 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 sack. Tank was also responsible for 12 passes defended and 2 interceptions. Unfortunately none of these interceptions resulted in touchdowns for Tank this season. The biggest game for Tank was his Week 10 performance in a loss against the Arizona Outlaws, one of the two teams that ultimately played in the Ultimus. During that game, Tank recorded 10 tackles, a personal record for the young linebacker. Currently Tank finds himself outshined by his fellow linebackers, Spicy Ron and Joe Smokes. But as Tank continues to mature, his influence on the defense is becoming more apparent.

Austin entered S40 as one of the favorites to make the playoffs, with some speculating that this could be the year Austin brought the title home. Tank was solidly within the starting defensive lineup for the Copperheads, starting all 16 games of the regular season, as well as the wildcard playoff game. This season saw Tank take a more active role in stopping the run game, recording a career high 88 tackles and 4 sacks. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Outlaws, which saw Tank record another personal best 14 tankles! He was also responsible for 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries over the course of the season. However, this came at the expense of Tank's pass defense. For the first time since joining the ISFL, Tank did not record a single INT, and only defended 7 passes. With fellow linebackers Spicy Ron and Joe Smokes beginning to show signs of age, Tank is poised to become the true mainstay of the Austin defense.

Coming into the S41 season, not only was Austin expected to make some noise in the regular season, they were talked about as a title contender. However that would not come to pass. On the defensive side of the ball, Tank found himself as one of the top two line backers, along with Spicy Ron. Tank started all 16 games of the regular season, recording a career high of 99 tackles and 10 sacks. As Tank continues to come into his prime, he has been terrorizing offensive lines and ball carriers alike. Recording 7 pass deflections again, Tank is demonstrating some solid athletic prowess in challenging the wide receivers as well as the running backs. Much like last season, Tank was unable to record a single INT. This is likely due to the Austin secondary becoming even better than last season, leading to Tank being able to blitz for pressure more than dropping into coverage for support. Despite a disappointing record in season 41, Austin remains solid on the defensive side of the ball, with Tank set up to lead the line backer corps next season.

Austin was the most experienced and skilled team according to the rankers coming into S42. This was the team all of the analyst said, with a veteran LB corps led by an aging Spicy Ron and backed up by stalwart starter Tank McGibbons. Tank started all 16 games of the regular season, setting a career high in Tackles for Loss at 7 and tying his previous year's sack record. He recorded 97 tackles, just shy of his 99 from the previous season, but still indicative of his outstanding play on the defensive side of the ball. Tank finds himself dropping into coverage less often, as his blitzing duties grow. He recorded 7 pass deflections and no interceptions. A big reason for the apparent lack of pass defense is the strength of the defensive backs playing behind Tank. With blanket coverage all around, the line backers find themselves free to terrorize the offense. As mentioned above, this team was considered by many analysts to be the most skilled, including Tank, however they were unable to find their way to the playoffs for a second season in a row. This has led some to speculate that Austin may be approaching a "sell" period that could see some of their high powered players dealt for the future, including Tank.

Despite returning many of their starters from the previous season, Austin found themselves on the outside looking in yet again in S43. The S43 Austin Copperheads were not necessarily the top team in the league, but they were expected to make a trip to the playoffs, something that they had routinely missed on. Tank McGibbons had adjusted well to his position as the lead linebacker in a star studded corps. Tank started all 16 games of the regular season, setting two personal game records. He recorded 2 sacks week 1 against HON and recorded 2 tackles for loss week 2 against ARI. In addition, Tank recorded a career high 111 tackles on the season and lead the league in sacks with 20. His 3 forced fumbles and 12 tackles for loss were also personal season records. Tank did drop into coverage more this season, coming close to his personal pass deflection record with 11 recorded this season. This was considered Austin's last chance with their current corps by many analysts, with all but the most diehard fans expecting Austin to begin the process of rebuilding. This may find pieces like Tank dealt to other teams for picks, while his value is still sky high. Only time will tell if Austin manage to sneak back into the playoff picture for one more season.
