Stanisław Hetman Koniecpolski (born February 9, 1591) is an American football linebacker for the Free Agent of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He didn't play college football battling wars instead before being drafted by the TBD in the 2036 DSFL Draft (S21). He would later go to TBD in the 2037 ISFL Draft (S22).

Early years

Stanisław Koniecpolski is a Polish military commander, regarded as one of the most talented and capable in the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He is also a magnate, a royal official (starosta), a castellan, a member of the Polish nobility (szlachta), and the voivode (governor) of Sandomierz from 1625. He led many successful military campaigns against rebelling Cossacks and invading Tatars. From 1618 he held the rank of Field Crown Hetman before becoming the Grand Crown Hetman, the military commander second only to the King, in 1632.

Now after hundreds of years he is seeking a new challenge and arrived at the NSFL just at the tail end of 2036 (S21). He is an acquaintance of Vladimir Fyodorovich that just recently finished his career and hopes to achieve the same longevity playing football as he did. They spent most of the time since Vladimir retired together, where he convinced Polish Hetman to join the league and try becoming a legend there too. He showed him the history of the league, and after they made a trip through all the places Koniecpolski lived and then he finally felt the thrill of the past battles, which helped convince him to seek further challenges. One more journey was required to establish what position would he play. He thought a lot about Quarterback, as he was used to leading and giving orders, but felt it might too crowdy in the league so far at that position. Instead, Linebacker was more fitting choice, as he spends most of his life defending the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, rarely leading aggressive wars. Safety was also a choice, but he was of impressive posture and the Linebacker fits more thematically so as general/hetman of the defense.

College career

As he never had time to attend college let's focus on what he has done as Koniecpolski's life is one of almost constant warfare. Before he had reached the age of 20, he had fought in the Dymitriads and the Moldavian Magnate Wars. Later, in 1620, he took part in the Battle of Cecora, during which he was captured by Ottoman forces. After his release in 1623, he defeated the Ottomans' Tatar vassals several times between 1624 and 1626. With inferior numbers, during the Polish–Swedish War (1626–29), Koniecpolski stopped the Swedish forces of Gustavus Adolphus from conquering Prussia and Pomerania before the war was concluded with the Truce of Altmark. In 1634, he defeated a major Turkish invasion at Kamianets-Podilskyi (Kamieniec Podolski), in modern Ukraine, while in 1644, his victory against the Tatars at the Battle of Ochmatów brought him international fame and recognition. More about his connection between this experience and on-field performance in the below section.

As you can see he has ton of valuable warfare experience that can be translated into playing American Football, which is inferior football, but someone else took his spot in GRSL so this has to suffice. He learned how to play against quick slants in Tatar Raids on Poland which rely on quick attacks and overpowering your enemy with agility, without much tactical plan. The key here is the preparation as you need to anticipate what the enemy team will do before they start implementing it. At least stakes here are lower since if Tatar Raid went through the countless lives would be lost or taken into jasyr (slavery). Here it's just about losing another down or fictional points. The one more listed experience was from Polish–Swedish War was he stopped seemingly undefeated Gustavus II Adolphus (the Great) in the maneuver war, where he exhausted opposing groups in countless encounters and striking enemy communication lines. This will be useful when playing against superior enemies and a lesson to utilize every possible, even the smallest advantage to gain the edge. All that should be funding for a great career waiting ahead for Stanisław and the first real challenge since then.

DSFL career

After his tumultuous past, it was long-awaited time for Stanisław to be finally drafted to a team, a first time in DSFL for me personally, yet as the names were coming down the list the disappointed mounted, since despite mocked around late first-round/early 2nd he ended up being picked far down the list as 22nd player in the incredibly stacked draft. Finally [Dallas Birddogs] made a pick and he joined the newly founded team. His time was rather good there even if the team missed the playoffs (finished with 5-9 record), but he found many friends there and had enough time to improve his draft stock in time for S22 draft. He finished the season with 140 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 Fumble Recovered and 1 Fumble forced (separate occasions) with single sack and interception which show showed his all-around game. For his efforts, he was named to S22 DSFL Pro-Bowl Roster as the Flex Defensive spot. He will surely remember this time well, even if it was known he is likely to spend just a single season down in DSFL, as he was set in mind to continue his journey up to the NSFL as soon as possible. The Locker Room atmosphere was fantastic, as well as teammates and management. Even if they were unable to succeed, Stanisław will always cheer for them and hope they won't be a victim of possible DSFL contraction and instead win their first Ultimini in the near future. Mongo-Panda and Bayley Jr. were fantastic teammates as linebackers and Koniecpolski hopes it will be given for those three to play together in the future.

He was drafted 6th OA in the S22 NSFL Draft to the Arizona Outlaws as the first linebacker of the board. It was a big rise compared to the DSFL draft a year earlier where he was drafted just as the 22nd choice. His sole dsfl year results spoke for themselves and he was rather adamant in pre-draft talks about willingness to stay his entire career with a single team that was willing to bet on his ability to play on the highest level. His first season was a mixed bag - while he was quite happy to join the majors as quick as possible the Outlaws are still in transition to competing and finished the year the year 5th in the ASFC with 4-8-1 record only above expansion team of Honolulu Hahalua (4-9-0). They were out of playoffs, as stacked ASFC required 8-5-0 record or even better to get there. Individually he didn't gathered any rewards but was really active and led rookies in tackles (5 OA among all players) with 120 and was especially happy about his coverage play - 2 interceptions (which he pointed out to his mentor Fyodorovich that was famed with inability to get those during his CB part of career) and also 4 pass deflections. He will spent his offseason to even further improve the endurance and agility to be able to be not just rush stopper & coverage player but also improve his pass rush, as he was unable to record a single sack or a safety and just one tackle for loss during his rookie year. You can be sure he is just getting started.
