Siaosi "Multitool" Multiauaopele (born June 12, 2019) is an American football safety who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Brigham Young University (BYU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Siaosi Multiauaopele was born to Tailua and Ana Multiauaopele in Waipahu, Hawaii. Multiauaopele grew up in a strict household, a result of his Morman upbringing. The discipline that was demanded of him at home and in the church soon began to show up in the classroom as well as on the football field. Multiauaopele enrolled in Punahou School in Hawaii his freshman year and quickly found his way onto the field.

Taking snaps at safety, linebacker, slot corner, special teams, and wide receiver, he earned the nickname "Multitool", reflecting his positional versatility. Going into his senior year, Multiauaopele gathered serious buzz in recruiting circles as a hard hitting defensive player on a Punahou team that was ranked Top 20 nationwide. A four star recuit, the only thing preventing his mailbox being flooded with recruitment letters was Multiauaopele's insistence that he would serve is two year mission for the LDS church in South America. Despite his on-field performance, including a state championship with 23 tackles, 4 forced turnovers, and 1 defensive touchdown, his commitment to the church limited his scholarship offers to Brigham Young, Utah, Boise State, and Hawaii. Ultimately, Multiauaopele committed to Brigham Young University before departing to Bolivia for his mission.

College career

Upon his return from his two year mission, Multiauaopele joined a BYU Cougars team that had no clear no clear openings in their starting line up. This lead to Multiauaopele redshirting and spending the following two seasons primarily taking snaps on special teams. Despite not starting, Multiauaopele was still able to make an impact on the field. His redshirt sophomore year, Multiauaopele broke the single season NCAA records for most blocked punts, 8, and most blocked combined kicks, 11 (8 punts, 2 field goals, 1 extra point).

Beginning his redshirt junior year, Multiauaopele was able to finally crack the starting lineup. As a starter, Multiauaopele got over 100 snaps at free safety, box safety, off-ball linebacker, slot corner, and edge rusher his redshirt junior year as his coaches tried to determine where to best deploy "Multitool" and racked up over 150 tackles. Ultimately, Multiauaopele settled into the "spear" position, a hybrid defensive back/linebacker role, his reshirt senior year. Multiauaopele emerged from his reshirt senior as an elite run defender as the Cougars had the best run defense in the FBS. By the end of his senior year, Multiauaopele held the BYU records for most blocked kicks, single season and career, combined and solo tackles, single season, and forced fumbles, single game and single season. Following his final year with the Cougars, Multiauaopele declared for the S30 DSFL draft.

DSFL Pre-Draft

Multiauaopele declared for the Season 30 DSFL draft following his redshirt senior season at BYU. Despite his excellent statistics put up over two years of starting in addition to special teams accolades throughout his collegiate career, Multiauaopele is a difficult prospect to project to the next level. With so many snaps at such varied positions, it is difficult to identify a true position for Multiauaopele to play in the DSFL. He has declared as a safety stating, "I see myself as an in the box safety. An enforcer in the run game and over the middle of the field." Some question if he has the athleticism to play safety full time and without the prototypical size to play off-ball linebacker, Multiauaopele may find himself relying on special teams to make an impact early on, much like his time at BYU. Multiauaopele has stated he will be spending the pre-draft season working harder than ever to prove his viability in the pros. He is currently scheduled to play in the Season 30 DSFL Prospect Bowl.
