Sandro 'MisterRyeus' Ryeu (born August 24, 2013) is an American football defensive end who is currently playing for the Arizona Outlaws. He played college football for Heidelberg University, before entering the DSFL in S21. He was drafted by the London Royals in the 5th round. In S22 Ryeu got drafted by the Arizona Outlaws with the 4th Pick of the 3rd Round

Early years

Sandro Ryeu is an American football defensive end born in Heidelberg (Germany). Ryeu is the child of Charlotte Ryeu-Eroni and Franklyn Ryeu-Eroni, an American veteran stationed in Mannheim (Germany). Ryeu was raised bilingual, attempting school in german language while living in an American settlement near Heidelberg (Germany). Ryeu told reporters that he mainly played basketball with other kids in his area but fell in love with football right after moving to the USA. Ryeu also jokingly admitted that the decision to move to Heidelberg (Ohio) was mainly based on the fact that he has a bad name memory. Ryeu started playing soccer, as a midfielder, and basketball in Germany until he was a teenager. Ryeu was expected to become a great soccer player until he dropped out of his local club to pursue his dream of becoming a musician with just small success. In his local community, he continued to play basketball to keep himself fit but was not very interested in the sport itself anymore. Ryeu finished his high school degree in Germany and joined the Heidelberg college (Ohio). His Mother Charlotte Ryeu-Eroni continued to live in Germany after the separation with Ryeu's father and Ryeu visits her 2-4 a year according to Ryeu.

College career

After problems finding a connection to other college students, Ryeu decided to try playing American football. He immediately became friends with his Coach, Darren Koller, who he would later describe as a father figure. Because of Ryeu's quick feet, body height and lack of knowledge about the game Koller lined him up as a Wide Receiver. Ryeu didn't do well as a wide receiver despite his physical archetypes. He didn't see a single offensive snap in his first year. Because of multiple injury problems for the team Ryeu got the chance to try himself out on different positions, ultimately becoming an outside linebacker who occasionally played in games. He ended his first season with just 24 tackles and one Tackle for Loss. As Darren Koller noticed Ryeus growing motivation and work ethic for the game since Ryeu was playing as a pass rusher he switched positions with freshman defensive end Morgan Martini. That was when Ryeu got growing attention from the media. He continued to play both linebacker and defensive end racking up 205 tackles, 11.5 QB Sacks and 25 tackles for loss. His season was a complete up and down with huge sparks of brilliance and underwhelming matchups like the Europe-Bowl.

Private Life

In his rookie season, the DSFL had to postpone its season due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. In his days off Sandro Ryeu, who bought a house in London, flew to visit his mother in Germany. As the situation got worse Ryeu decided to stay in Germany although there was no chance to travel back to London and instead he offered some help in hospitals. He spent 2million dollars to the german medical system and also lend a helping hand for people that needed it. Soon DSFL Reporters gave the word that Ryeu himself had been quarantized in a special hospital. Ryeu got healthy after 3 weeks in the hospital and also was able to play the remainder of the 21st season.

DSFL Season

Ryeu got drafted #34 Overall by the London Royals where he both played defensive end and Linebacker. The London Royals started as a expansion team in the 21st season, so Ryeu was London's 5th Pick of all time. After a slow start to the season, Ryeu established himself as a force in the Royals' front-seven. Ryeu led the league in tackles for loss before switching to the linebacker spot on week 9. Ryeu finished his first game at the linebacker spot with 18 tackles which was a season-high league-wide record and also a franchise record for the London Royals. This ended up being the best single-game-tackling-performance of the 21 DSFL season. He shared this record with his teammate and friend Derred De Ville, who also got 18 tackles later in the season. Ryeu also tied both the single-game-forced-fumbles DSFL record and the single-game-fumbles-recovered DSFL record in the following game, week 9, both with 2. Despite a very good rookie season Ryeu ended up missing the Playoffs. The Royals ended up with a 5-9 record. Ryeu was a part of the "2Burkeulosis - All or Nothing (London Royals)"-TV Show which followed the new expansion franchise throughout the season.

S22 Season

As the 22nd NSFL season's draft started Ryeu had to wait a bit for his name being called up on the stage. In a NSFL draft that did not feature many teams in an urgent need for defensive ends, Ryeu was selected as the second edge rusher in the draft at the 4th pick of the 3rd round by the Arizona Outlaws. Sandro faced some trouble moving to the arizona dessert and being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic almost immediately after. As the Arizona did not have a need for help at the Linebacker position with Stanisław Koniecpolski being selected in the draft and the breakout player in Galf Wilf, Ryeu did not maintain his defensive end-linebacker hybrid-role he had while playing in college and the London Royals. He struggled to get his production on the field, ending his season with only one Quarterback sack. He showed that he had some great training in arizona while watching tapes and showed significant improvement in recognizing playcalls. During the season it has been very quite around Ryeu and it seemed like he did not want to get too much attention around his average NSFL debut season. He started to make some news to his name in the middle of the 22nd season with an explosion to his "TIK TOK"-Account, as it was reported in "(S22) PT2 - Lazy Days". In the offseason serveral sources told, that Ryeu worked on his weight, raising it from 279lbs (which was clearly more fitting for a DE-LB Hybrid) to a massive 300lbs. Ryeu told reporters that he has a chip on his shoulder and wants to be in the optimal shape for his second NSFL season.

S23 Season

Ryeu entered his sophomore season pretty as silently as he is used to. Ryeu became a strong part of the Arizona Outlaws defense which continuously got better. Ryeu really struggled at the start of the season, rarely getting tackles. Since the newly rebranded ISFL changed their rules to force a 16 game season, Ryeu did get the chance of a strong comeback in the second half of the season and he did just that. He raised his tackle average and also got 2 of his 3 sacks in the last couple of games. Ryeu's effort ultimately was not enough as Ryeu and the Arizona Outlaws were unable to reach the playoffs for the second year in a row despite having a point differential of +122 points. The Outlaws fell short in an overtime-thriller against the New Orleans Second Line to clinch a potential playoffspot. In an Interview with Mony Kronbon, Ryeu admitted: "Our defense showed these [improvements]. +122 in point differential does not come out of nowhere! [...} We had the best passing offense of the league, unfortunately we will have to be better forcing turnovers next season and I hope that the rushing offense can take a step forward." Ryeu established himself in an elite defensive line with players like Claude Miller II, Pete 'Plop' Miller and Shane Masters. Ryeu also hinted in this article about his interest in remaining in Arizona where he enters a contract year with a mutial option. Despite not making the Pro Bowl, the IFF rated Ryeu as an 94 OVR Defensive End after the 23rd ISFL season.

S24 Season

The Pro Simulation Football magazine wrote about Ryeu's 3rd year in the ISFL "A generational talent finally found his breakout year". Ryeu stepped up his pass rush game a lot. Ryeu ended the season with 6 sacks and also remained a productive run stopper with 10 tackles for loss. He also ended the season with a lot more tackles than in the years before, ultimately recording 20 tackles more than in the years before while also having a couple of special plays like a blocked punt early in the season. Unfortunately even with Ryeu's improvements it was not enough for the Arizona Outlaws to reach the playoffs as they bizarrely lost their playoff spot to the New Orleans Second Line. Ryeu was obviously angry about the close outcome of the 24th season. With the league expansion waiting after the Ultimus, the Arizona Outlaws decided to not use a protection slot for Sandro Ryeu. After getting another protection through the 2nd overall pick in the expension draft, the Outlaws finally protected their pass tusher. Ultimately, After an offseason with a lot of uncertainty around Ryeu's future, Sandro Ryeu remained a player for the Arizona Outlaws. Ryeu managed his own deal (without an agent) with the Arizona GM unicorn which included 3 added years to his contract with a player option for the 25th season. This year, the IFF rated Sandro Ryeu's performance with an 97 Overall grade which is nearly perfect. With the loss of a couple important run stopping assets in arizona, Ryeu is primed for a big year.
