Robert Phelps (born April 1, 1999) is a retired American football wide receiver best known for playing in the National Simulation Football League (NSFL).

Early years

Robert Phelps, the son of Margo Phelps and Warren Phelps was born in Seattle, Washington. Robert grew up in a suburban area near seattle known as Ballard. At the age of 7 his parents enrolled him in a football program where he fell in love with the sport. Through his early years he became known for being the fast kid who could catch and he only became better at it with time. Once Phelps made it to high school he was the best player on his team. He attended Ballard High School and helped propel their high school team to 2 championship games, but they were unable to get the championship win in either of the two chances. Robert still remains connected with his high school and is often found in attendance of their games and giving pep talks to the players in the locker room when the coach allows it.

College career

Phelps had a bumpy start to his college career, playing as the best player on a small high school team did not prepare him for the college experience. In his first game with Washington he had 2 fumbles and 4 incomplete passes. After the abismal start Phelps was benched for game 2. After that game he improved gradually and by the end of the season he was playing up to his potential. In his sophmore season with the team he had turned into a solid addition to the lineup running any and all routes the coach gave him to perfection. Phelps accreditted his improvements to his coaches and trainers who vastly improved his ability to run and catch like no one else on the team. The University of Washington Huskies weren't able to make it to any championships in Robert's time with the team but he does credit them with his development and rounding him out into the great player that he became.

Professional career

NSFL career

Robert Phelps was drafted in the 13th round of the season 1 draft. He was not highly sought after on draft day and was drafted one spot after another familiar wide receiver, Bradley Westfield. Since the innagural draft was a snake draft and the Otters had the first pick, they were able to draft both high quality wide receivers back to back. The two played together for all of Phelps' career until he retired at the end of season 9. Phelps was not just an outstanding wideout, but also the quintessential example of what it means to be a member of the Otters. Phelps could have easily been frustrated as many considered him to be living in Westfield’s shadow, but he continued to be a reliable chain mover for the team and finished his career among the top ten in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, all while doing whatever he could to help keep the team together.
