Reggie Wilder (born August 17th, 2024) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Missouri (MIZ) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Wilder was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Janine and Gilbert Wilder on August 17th, 2024. His grandfather, James Wilder, played running back at the University of Missouri and was drafted by the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1981, where he was a one-time Pro Bowler. Wilder's athletic career was initially was focused on basketball, until his high school football coach convinced him to focus on football full-time after his freshman year. A second-team all-state selection as a tight end and defensive end in his sophomore year, Wilder moved to quarterback for his final two years where he set school records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns. His senior year, he led the Lathrop Mules to their first ever Class 2 state championship, breaking perennial state champion Lamar's 56-game winning streak with a 48-10 win at Faurot Field. Entering the recruiting cycle, Wilder was listed as a four-star defensive end prospect by Rivals and was ranked by as the third best prospect in Missouri. No schools gave him an offer to play quarterback.

College career

Not originally recruited as a quarterback, Wilder received limited playing time in his freshman season, compiling five tackles with two for loss on the defensive side of the field. His sophomore season, Missouri began to use his unique size and athleticism on the offensive end, incorporating him into wildcat packages in short yardage situations. He rushed for four touchdowns in five games in this limited role. On October 11th, 2019 in a game against Mississippi State, the Tigers saw themselves in a unique situation where their top three quarterbacks were sidelined with injury. Wilder finished the game, and was given a starting opportunity the following week against No. 3 Georgia. Wilder shocked the national audience, leading the previously unranked Tigers to a 38-24 victory wherein he threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 153 yards on 20 carries, including an 18-yard touchdown to seal the victory in the fourth quarter. Prior to his junior season, Wilder was named the starter at quarterback and was named to several preseason awards watchlists, including that for the Heisman. Wilder dealt with nagging injuries and largely underperformed in 2020, throwing just 23 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, but managed to rush for 1,397 yards and 14 touchdowns. On February 4th, 2021, Wilder announced his intention to forego his senior season and go pro.
