Pete "Plop" Miller (born January 1, 2014) is an American football defensive tackle for the Arizona Outlaws of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He previously played for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers and Norfolk Seawolves of the DSFL. He played college football for the University of Kentucky.

Early years and personal life

Pete was born in Lexington, KY to a mother and father of unknown identity and has at least one brother. He is very secretive, and not much is known of his early life. He loves Die Hard and can recite every line. Outside of football, he enjoys boxing, tennis, NASCAR, and The Amazing Race. Known for always taking dumps, he earned the nickname of "Plop".

He is married to Kelly Hannon and has two sons, Jim and Dwight. They live in a 320 sqft tiny house that Kelly won from a scratch-off ticket. Rumors have circulated that Plop skipped a possible 5th year of eligibility in order to make money to cover Kelly's gambling debts.

High school career

He attended Dunbar and lettered all four years. His team won the state championship twice, and Plop set the all-time single season sack record for the state of Kentucky during his junior year. He was a 4* recruit with multiple D1 offers, and he eventually committed to his hometown Wildcats.

College career

Plop made an immediate impact as a true freshman, appearing in all 13 games (starting in the last 3). He was a dominant force in his sophomore season starting all 13 games, earning 2nd team All-SEC honors, and was the MVP of the Music City Bowl where he had 3 sacks, 2.5 TFL, and the game winning interception.

Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury filming his audition for The Amazing Race, and he missed all of his Junior season. Despite not seeing the field, he developed his leadership skills and was an influential presence in the locker room. Coach Stoops mentioned him in his end of season speech, specifically citing his mentoring of the young defensive line.

Desperate to get back on the field, he recorded 5.5 sacks in the first two games of his senior season. He struggled during SEC play and finished the year with 9.5 sacks.

Myrtle Beach Buccaneers

S19

Due to the aforementioned money issues, he entered the DSFL mid-season. He landed with the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers and reported to the team in December of 2019. Although he spent less than one month on the team, he quickly developed a strong pirate accent. Many of his posts are pirate-related and his accent often comes through in his writing.

Norfolk Seawolves

S20

After his unceremonious release from Myrtle Beach, he entered the DSFL S20 draft where he was drafted with the second pick in the 10th round (56 overall) by the Norfolk Seawolves. Part of a strong defensive line, Plop finished in the top three of DTs in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks. He was tied for the DT lead with two forced fumbles. The Seawolves made the playoffs with the third-best record, but lost in the wildcard game to Myrtle Beach, Pete's former team. The defense played poorly, giving up 43 points, including 24 in the 4th quarter. His last game in the DSFL was a disappointment on an individual level as well; Miller only registered 2 tackles in the game.

Arizona Outlaws

S21

Miller was drafted by the Arizona Outlaws with the fourth pick in the second round (14th overall). He promptly signed a 3-year, $9 million contract and reported to the team in February 2020. One of the more interesting contracts signed that year, Pete sacrificed millions of dollars in order to include the following clause: "Pete Miller shall be allowed to watch every new episode of The Amazing Race, and he will be exempt from team activities/obligations 15 minutes prior to the show, during the show, and one hour after the show has ended".

Miller’s rookie campaign started slowly; he registered only four tackles through the first three weeks. Since his on-field production was lacking, Miller looked for other ways to contribute. He revived the team's twitter account for the first time since S12 and became one of the most active young Outlaws in the community. He also participated in the evaluation and scouting of the historically large S22 class. Despite the on-field struggles, Miller was lauded for his other contributions and joined the war room for the S22 draft.

Although the team suffered an embarrassing defeat in week 4, a 55-17 loss at the hands of the Orange County Otters, it was a turning point for Miller. He recorded five tackles and regained the confidence that made him a dominant force in college and a 2nd round pick in the NSFL. He recorded four sacks over the next three weeks en route to a nine-sack season, which lead all rookies. He finished the year with 44 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. Arizona missed the playoffs at 3-10, but finished the year on a high note with a home win against the Yellowknife Wraiths.

S21 was not without controversy for Miller. During the week 2 game against their conference rival Austin Copperheads, Miller hit RB Mako Mendonca at the line of scrimmage. Miller celebrated while Mendonca was injured on the play. After the game, Miller was approached by the Austin GM, and the two got caught up in a heated, obscenity-laced confrontation. No punches were thrown, although there was some shoving. An unidentified Copperheads staffer was also caught in the scuffle, but he reported no injuries. Mendonca made a full recovery and did not miss any games in S21. After a thorough review, the NSFL sided with Miller and the Outlaws, agreeing that the hit was clean. No fines or suspensions were handed out.

S22

Unlike S21, Miller had a respectable start to S22. After three tackles in week 1, a 24-24 tie against division rival Austin Copperheads, he registered his first sack in week 2 at San Jose. He continued his interior dominance with sacks in week 3 at New Orleans, week 4 against Honolulu, and week 5 at Orange County. Week 6, a surprise 29-27 win against eventual Ultimus champions Colorado Yeti, was a quiet week for Miller on the stat sheet. Although he recorded only two tackles, his disruption on the inside of the defensive line allowed his teammates to record three tackles for loss, two sacks, six passes defended, and two interceptions (one of which was returned for a touchdown by Zamir Kehla). Miller returned to form in week 7 with five tackles and a sack against the Philadelphia Liberty. Building on the momentum, Miller's three tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack propelled the Outlaws to a 26-16 road win at the Chicago Butchers in week 8. After struggling in the rematch at Austin in week 9, Miller recorded sacks in week 10 against San Jose, week 11 against New Orleans, week 12 at Honolulu (two sacks), and against Orange County (two sacks). He ended the year with 12 sacks, which was second in the league, 40 tackles, and 3 tackles for loss. His on field performance earned him a spot in the S22 Pro Bowl and 3rd place in Defensive Lineman of the Year voting.

Miller continued in his role as a war room member and twitter czar. He otherwise led a quiet life off the field.

S23

After back to back Pro Bowl seasons, Miller had a very disappointing S23. Despite playing in three more games (the schedule was expanded from 13 to 16 games), Miller recorded fewer sacks and tackles for loss than in his first two seasons in the league. He finished the year with 50 tackles, 7 sacks, and 1 safety.

The season started well for Miller, who recorded 5 tackles and 1 sack in week 1 at home against the Orange County Otters, 4 tackles and 1 sack in week 2 on the road against the San Jose Sabercats, and 3 tackles and 1 sack in week 3 at home against the New Orleans Second Line.

After a couple of solid games, including 4 tackles in week 4 on the road against the Austin Copperheads and 2 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 safety in week 5 on the road against the Honolulu Hahalua, Miller struggled for the remainder of the season.

Some lowlights include a one-tackle performance in weeks 6, 13, and 15, and a two-tackle performance in weeks 10 and 14.

Despite his personal disappointment, the Outlaws defense played very well throughout the year; they gave up the fewest points in the league. One of his teammates, Galf Wilf, won Linebacker of the Year. Wilf mentioned the Arizona defensive line, specifically Miller, as being a huge component of his individual success. “I couldn’t have done it without him”, Wilf said after the ISFL S23 Awards Show.

He signed a 3 year/$9 million extension (plus a $3 million signing bonus) in the middle of the season, keeping him in Arizona through at least S26.

Off the field, Miller led a quiet life without any major news stories.

S24

After a disastrous preseason, “Plop” once again put the league on notice with his regular season performances. He returned to the Pro Bowl with 59 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 10 sacks while starting all 16 games for the Outlaws.

The year was great for the Arizona Outlaws as well. They tied for first in their conference and were ready to make a run at the Ultimus. Unfortunately, due to previously unknown tiebreakers, Arizona missed the playoffs in 4th place. After a thorough breakdown by Head Office, Arizona eventually dropped their grievance, which meant Miller once again missed the playoffs.

Some personal highlights include a 2 sack performance in week 4 against the San Jose SaberCats, a five tackle, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack performance in week 5 against the Orange County Otters, and a 2 sack performance in week 7 against the Colorado Yeti. Furthermore, he recorded 1 sack and a career high 11 tackles in week 11 against the Baltimore Hawks.

Following in the footsteps of some of his fellow players (like offensive linemen Bruce Buckley, Calvin Golladay, and Julio Jones as well as kicker J. J. “Jay” Jay-Jaymison, Miller increased his philanthropic presence around Phoenix. After reading to children in the burn ward, mowing lawns for some of the elderly population, and volunteering at multiple animal shelters, he was awarded a key to the city by Mayor Kate Gallego. Mayor Gallego praised Miller and the Outlaws as “upstanding citizens”, “role models”, and “fine young men”. He also filed the paperwork to start his own charitable organization.
