Patrik Money (born July 7, 2012) is an American football defensive tackle who currently plays for the Yellowknife Wraiths. He played college football for Wisconsin and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks in the S22 season. Money played for the Kansas City Coyotes in the DSFL in S21 and was drafted to the Wraiths in the 5th round of the S22 NSFL Draft.

Early years

Born in Dublin, to parents Cash and Sandy, Patrik was the youngest of 3 brothers. Money spent his early life in ireland, playing rugby and fighting with his three older brothers. This rough and tumble upbringing translated very well when the family moved to the US, trading in Europe for Wisconsin. Instead of his native rugby, Money started to play football and he took to it immediately, even better than his early rugby career. He was already big for his age and with a love of hitting people, a career as a defensive lineman was always on he cards.

College career

Patrik continued on in his promising career by attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He started only the final game of his Freshman year, but became an instant hero. and his new #93 jersey, by returning a fumble recovery for a 93-yard TD, his only defensive TD of his college career.

In his sophomore year he started every game as a cornerstone for the Wisconsin defence. Racking up 10 sacks and 30 solo tackles, Money was quickly looking like a prospect to watch for the NSFL. However, a foot injury took him out of the half of the last game of the season and continued to hamper him throughout the off season. In Junior year, it was clear the injury was still affecting his game. Only 2 sacks was a downturn from the previous year and as Wisconsin's year faded, he sat out of the final 2 games in order to fully heal. Most of the previous years hype behind him had faded, and while the NSFL draft was still a very viable option, Money decided to return for his Senior year. In an interview Money explained "I've got a lot more to offer than last year and I owe it to my school and my teammates to run it back for another year".

Run it back they did, with another 12 sack season, Money returned to his former potential and showed that his Junior year was merely a blip. Money returned to form as Wisconsin had one of their best years in history, before just losing out in their bowl game.

Money was a relatively quiet pick before the draft. A disappoint Prospect bowl with the Pittsburgh Hippo’s not making the playoffs, while including a few potential top DSFL players in Skywalker, Tatsu Nakamura and #1 Overall pick in the S22 NSFL draft, Colt Mendoza, Money didn’t show his full potential. Money ended up being drafted in the DSFL to the Kansas City Coyotes at #85 overall. The Coyotes were supposedly Money's first choice due to positive interactions with the front office, so falling to #85 worked out well for him. While originally drafted as a rotational piece, Money’s improvement over the season quickly made him a stalwart on the Defensive Line alongside Kansas’ top pick in the draft, Phat Boi.

In his rookie season, Kansas City went 9-3 in the regular season, with Money leading an impressive Coyotes Defensive line with 8 sacks, 39 Tackles and 14 TFL in his 14 games. KC made playoffs and were top seed in the NFC North but missed out on the top seed overall by losing their final 2 home games. Going into the playoffs, Kansas City beat the Portland Pythons 31-7, Money having another good game by adding an extra sack and TFL. They lost in the Ultimini to Myrtle Beach where Money had a quiet game with only 5 tackles. While losing in the biggest game of the year was disappointing, Money had shown his worth and grown to be one of the top Defensive End prospects in the S22 NSFL Draft. His impressive sack count for a true rookie was a big positive for NSFL teams, along with his passion for the game.

Money impressed at the Combine, with a score of 42 on the Bench press, he scored 6th highest in his class and 17th of all time for D Linemen. His 40 time of 4.38 seconds was 11th all time for D Linemen and 45th in the entire class.

NSFL Draft

Money was drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths with the in the 59th overall pick in the 5th round of the Season 22 NSFL Draft. The Defensive End position as a whole fell further than expected but Money still managed to sneak into the top 5 rounds. When asked about his destination, Money was delighted. “This is a great team who have just come off the back of another heart-breaking loss in the Ultimus so I’m gonna help make that right”

He signed a 3-year deal worth $1m a year to prove his worth in the great white north.

Yellowknife Wraiths: 2037 (S22) - Rookie Season

Money was called up immediately alongside fellow rookie DE James Cho to help strengthen a defensive line with veterans Giannis Kroustis and Nero Alexander. The defensive unit was stellar giving up the least points in the league and with a league high 50 sacks alongside 37 TFLs. While his contribution to the team was appreciated inside the team, the stat sheets didn’t quite show it. Moving inside to DT for the season, Money collected 3 sacks and 5 TFLs, a slightly disappointing season given his breakout year in the DSFL. However, the interior pressure provided, many analyst claim, was on par with some of the top DT’s in the league.

Yellowknife’s offence also fired on all cylinders and they gained the top seed going into playoffs. However, in the NSFC Championship game Colorado came up to the Burial Grounds and shocked the world as they pulled off one of the most miraculous playoff runs in history, winning the Ultimus for the first time for their franchise.

Yellowknife Wraiths: 2038 (S23) - Ultimus Season

Money returned for his second season in the NSFL and one which pundits predicted may be “The Last Dance” for that iteration of the Yellowknife team. S22 MVP Cooter Bigsby announced it would be his final season and other veterans Nate Swift and Johnny Snuggles were thought to be nearing the end of their careers. While they got off to a rocky start, losing their week 1 game for the 6th consecutive season. However, they soon returned to winning ways winning the next 4 on the bounce. With a few tough inter-conference games, the Wraiths would finish the season 10-6 enough for the top seed in the NSFC but behind the 11-5 Orange County team for the top seed overall. Week 12 was the top performance of the year for Money as he recorded 4 tackles and 3 Sacks, the first 3 sack game for any player in the season. While he would only finish the regular season with 8 sacks total, it was an improvement from his rookie campaign.

Not having to play on wildcard weekend meant Yellowknife came up against Colorado in the conference championship, a repeat of the previous year’s championship game. However, history would not repeat itself as a cagey and defensive affair would eventually wind up with Yellowknife on top, Money contributing a sack to the Wraiths defence’s 7 sacks in the game. In the other conference, Austin upset both New Orleans and Orange County to make the Ultimus which was then held in the Frostlands for the first time. Money had a subdued game with only 3 tackles but the new stadium appeared to break the curse for Yellowknife as they won their first Ultimus since S8 in their 8th appearance in the big game.

Yellowknife Wraiths: 2039 (S24)

In the S24 season, the reigning champion Wraiths had to find a new identity. With Cooter Bigsby’s retirement, rookie Colby Jack now led a revamped team with several rookies on offence. Money moved inside permanently as he put on 10lbs of weight and was found to have been under measured at the combine by 2 inches. With this increased strength, a permanent role at DT was appropriate, especially since Giannis Kroustis was the retire at the end of the season.

The defence of the title did not go as planned, after a nontraditional week 1 win, Yellowknife started the season strong. Losses to strong division rivals in Colorado and Sarasota would put dents in the team but the team would still pull out to a strong 4-2 record in the first third of the season. However back to back cross conference losses would pull them back to 4-4 before beating New Orleans on the road. The wraiths went into the game against eventual Ultimus Champions San Jose as heavy favourites but stuttered in the first Jack brothers face off in the league, only putting up 3 points. This started a run of 6 losses that put the Wraiths out of playoff contention. Their 6-10 record to finish the season was enough to get them the #5 pick in the draft which included expansion teams.

Money had another 8 sack season to keep up the pace on his stats. An extra TFL and 3 extra tackles over the previous season was a slight improvement but not enough to have money anywhere near the pro bowl or DTotY contention.
