Nuniq Polar Bear Annastesia (born February 10, 2022) is an American football defensive tackle for the Kansas City Coyotes of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Nuniq Annastesia was born in Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow), Alaska, to Nanuruk Aariak, his Inuit mother, and Petrovich Annastesia, his Russian origin father. He was always quite big, so he soon became sought after by the rest of the kids to play traditional Inuit sports such as One Foot High Kick, Kneel Jump and Knuckle Hop.

From there he went on to play on the local Football team. A modest team from a small town where he had to play both OL and DL.

Playing in the cold northern Alaska weather made him develop a penchant for running fast, to keep his body heat.

After a hard crash with an opponent he saw Torngasak, the good spirit helper of people of his Inuit faith. Torngasak told him to persevere, so he could go on to be the greatest Inuit NSFL player ever. The doctors declared he had a case of hallucinations due to a strong concussion, but he knew different. So became his obsession of playing in the NFSL.

College career

Ninuq, which means 'Polar Bear', went on to join University of Nebraska and play for the Cornhuskers. But when he presented his inscription, there was a mistake in writing down his name, and he was inscribed as Nuniq Annastesia. As there was no time left to rectify before the season started, he went on with Nuniq. Because, after all, what damage would a season of a wrong name do? Alas, as he would find by the end of the season, that name stuck with him.

As a true freshman in 2032, Annastesia did not start most games, but he did manage 11 tackles and 2 sacks. The following years saw noticeable improvements, as Annastesia started the majority of games, and saw a dramatic increase in his stats with 45 tackles and 5 sacks and 1 FF.

It was during this second season that his mates started nicknaming him ""polar bear"", which was the translation of his name, as he was both a big gentle person and a ferocious hunter in the field. The opposition started saying that if you took your eyesight out of him, it was too late and he would maul you.

His third season was good too. He played 13 games and had 64 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 1 FF. That forced fumble was in the last game. If they won they would go on to the national championship. It helped get a TD. But alas, they lost anyway. This was the moment when DSFL scouts started paying attention to him as he could probably end being a NSFL star.

His fourth season was quite similar, in 13 games he had 59 tackles, 11 sacks and 4 FF. His mates joked that the bear had developed a taste for QB blood.

He finished his 4 years in college with 52 games played, 181 tackles, 29.5 sacks and 6 FF.

It was both a great year and a sad year for Annastesia. Great as he knew he was going on to the DSFL, but sad as he would not be playing with most of his teammates anymore. The words of the song Anastasia sounded in his head as he left the field for the last time: "The fire in my heart, it will never die Everything I love will be left behind No turning back, forever gone tonight"

Professional career

DSFL career

Nuniq Annastesia was picked in the humongous (S22) draft in position 109 by the Kansas City Coyotes. He was quite lucky to have been picked by them Coyotes, as it is one of the DSFL teams with the best locker room. Also, one of the best defenses in the DSFL. As a matter of fact, the Coyotes had the best defense in yards allowed and the second best defense in points allowed in the DSFL.

At first, third in the DT depth chart, he didn't play. Not even in the pre-season games. Nuniq saw he was near number two, so he trained hard to improve and get better than Mr Robot. He would play his first professional football in round 3 of the DSFL NFC North game against Portland Pythons, were he only had one tackle, against RB Nakamura, who would be probably the player he most tackled, due to him liking interior routes and to the fact that the Coyotes played the Pythons 3 times that year.

He would then go on to play the twelve remaining regular season games, and the play off semi-finals against the PortlandPythons and would then go on to lose the Ultimini against the Buccaneers. Anyway, it was great playing the Ultimini. A dream come true. All in all, a great season for the Coyotes.

In game 12 in London against the Royals he won the prize for the best defender of the Coyotes, with 5 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Probably it must have started as a fool's day practical joke, as even if that was his best game, the secondary did better. Probably no one dared tell him it was an April Fools' Day joke.

ISFL career

Nuniq Annastesia was picked to play for the Baltimore Hawks with the 7th pick in round 6. It was a very happy night, as not only he had been picked ahead of what he expected, he would keep playing with some people from Kansas City Coyotes, and would also be able to play with some guys from other DSFL teams he had come to respect.

The 2037 season saw a very young Hawks team, a rebuilding team, play with energy and determination. But alas, the results were not favorable to them. Most games were close affairs, but lost. The team needed experience to become dangerous, they knew it, and they were getting it! The Hawklings will one day grow into full fledged Hawks and become a dangerous team. It was a question of time. The team only had 3 victories, but it was not that bad, as mentioned, many games were really close and should have fallen the Hawks way if it wasn't for bad luck. This season Nuniq Annastesia would record his first forced fumble, it felt great!

The 2038 season saw an improved Hawks team, still very young, but making less mistakes. Less mistakes and the same energy and determination meant that it had become a dangerous team. This was the expansion season, when the Halalua and the Sailfish had joined the NSFL, which meant 3 more games. It was good to play more games. More fun to be had, more time to improve. The team fought until the last day to get into the playoffs, and didn't manage, but they fought well until the last minute. They had 8 victories and 8 defeats. This team, with its youth and hunger, could only go up! This season Nuniq Annastesia would record his first fumble recovery in his professional career. It felt even better!
