Nick Smith (born May 20, 2025) is an American football runningback for the Portland Pythons of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Born in Gahanna Ohio, Nick Smith was a multi sport athlete from a young age. Up until his high school years, he excelled at soccer, football, and baseball. As Nick got older, he found he loved the brutality of football more than the finesse of soccer and baseball. As he started high school, he decided to shift his focus squarely in football. As the starting JV runningback as a freshman, Nick set the Gahanna Lincoln single game record for rushing touchdowns with 4. In his junior season, Nick was asked to play both Football and Lacrosse at the varsity level. As the primary goal line back and goalie, Nick made a name for himself due to his bruising rushing style in football and his tenacity between the posts as a goalie. As a senior, Nick helped lead the Golden Lions football program to their first playoff berth in a decade. In lacrosse, Nick became the most penalized goalie in the state, setting the record for most illegal body checks in a season.

College career

After receiving no offers from a Division 1 football or lacrosse program, Nick decided to walk on to the Kennesaw State Owls. As a freshman, Nick was easily the biggest runningback on the team. Early in his career he was often asked to carry the ball in goal line situations. This earned him a reputation of being a touchdown machine as he amassed 8 touchdowns on 11 carries in his freshman season. Nick continued to to improve throughout his sophmore season, earning increased playing time and was no longer just a goal line back. Through 11 games he carried the rock 50 times for 200 yards, averaging a respectable 4 yards per carry. Smith suffered an unfortunate knee injury in the spring game which left him unable to suit up for the whole season. After working his way back from injury leaner and meaner, Nick Smith earned himself a bellcow role for the Owls, carrying the ball 83 times for 357 yards and 21 touchdowns in 10 games. Additionally, he caught 15 passes out of the backfield for a whopping 255 yards and 3 touchdowns.
