Mo Mamba Magic (born August 23, 2016) is an American football defensive tackle for the Colorado Yeti of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL).

Early years

Born to Maria Magic on August 8th, 2016, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mo "Mamba" Magic has been a force of nature of any field he's graced. A multi-sport athlete, Mo grew up playing more sports than he watched. His mother Maria was very quickly a single mother to two boys, and worked two jobs to make ends meet. The Magic brothers, Mo and Michael, turned to sports entertain themselves while their mother worked. As a child, Mo was a talented basketball player, and a semi-decent hockey player. Though basketball was his preferred sport. One of the better two-way guards in the elementary leagues, Mo quickly caught the eye of recruiters for his drive and his passion for learning, earning the nickname "Mamba" from his coaches and teammates alike.

The offer that he did take surprised those that knew him. Mo Mamba would choose to commit to the Hugh Boyd Secondary Trojans, all the way in Richmond, British Columbia, for football - despite never playing a recorded down in his life. When asked about the decision during his exit interview five years later, Mo would reveal that he felt that his family needed to "get out of the hood", and that the offer of compensated housing was a "no brainer". While the offer looked insane when they made it, head coach Will Hughes said that he could tell Mo was a generational talent. "He was a special kid," Hughes said during Magic's commitment presser. "Reminds me of a real young Gino Atkins, and he's not even 20 yet."

And special he was. During his 5 years with the Trojans, Mo would lead his team to 3 back to back AA Lower Mainland Football titles playing both defensively as a defensive tackle, and offensively as a right tackle. He suffered a broken foot in his fourth year that limited his ability to play in the Trojans' inaugural year in the single A tier, the highest level of high school football. However, he would come back in his senior year to lead the team to it's first Single A Lower Mainland Football title. He would finish his career with the Trojans leading them in total tackles made (634), sacks (205), tackles for loss (356), sacks allowed (3 SA in 5 years), and pancakes (1024).

Mo would also have a stellar career in rugby, which he picked up following football season in his first year, being invited on several occasions to represent his province, and his country. He was also a competitive wrestler, competing provincially, as well as nationally. He was a heavily decorated athlete in both sports as well, earning high praises from national level coaches with regards to his professionalism, and "Mamba Mentality". However, after suffering a broken foot in 2033, he retired from both sports to focus on football.

Ironically, he would never end up playing basketball as a part of the Trojan program.

After Mo's senior year of football, he was one of the most highly recruited athletes in North America. Touted as the next big thing in sports, Mo was praised by local media as having NSFL level talent. Rated a 5 star recruit across Canada, and America, Mo received full-ride scholarship offers from the top schools in both countries. Leaving the decision until the last possible moment to "focus on school" - according to Mo - he would make yet another decision that would shock everyone.

On February 15th, 2034, Mo "Mamba" Magic would commit to the local University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, snubbing the likes of LSU, OSU, UCLA, UCF, and even more locally Simon Fraser University (who runs the only NCAA program in Canada). The decision was mocked by experts around the media sphere. When asked about his choice during the immediate press conference that followed, Mo said that the decision he made was so he could stay closer to home, and to take care of his family. When asked about rival team, and potential NCAA title contender's SFU, Mo laughed, saying it wasn't even close. "

College career

After snubbing the CFB world in favour of remaining close to home, Mamba Magic would soon bring around Mamba Mania. Mo was an instant campus celebrity. Even before the season began, there was already some concern about his ability to handle the attention, and the change in environment. On top of that, on the recommendation of his agent, Mo would put on additional 20lbs during the offseason to fill out the prototypical defensive tackle form just a little more.

Initial results were not good for Mo, who struggled in his first two games. However, after a break in play, Mamba Magic was in full effect by week 4. He would go on to lead the Thunderbirds towards an undefeated season, capping it off with another Championship ring to the prestigious school's history. Magic would finish the season leading his team, and the league, in tackles (115), sacks (23), and tackles for loss (49). His ability to pressure the QB and stuff the run was game changing, and for his efforts, Mamba Magic find himself with several new trophies to display at the end of the season, taking home the league's overall MVP award, the Playoff MVP award, the Championship game MVP award. the Defensive Player of the Year award, the Defensive Rookie of the Year, and the Best DL of the Year award,

Despite only playing a single year at UBC, he has already made a significant impact on the culture of that program. However, there are whispers that Mamba Magic might be on the move. Experts speculate that the league's lack of reputation and talent is hurting Magic's NSFL draft stock. Other's say that the league has given him a unique opportunity to be the centre of attention for an entire nation. There is also speculation that Mamba may be targeted in the upcoming DSFL draft instead.

When approached about these rumours, Magic stated the following: "Ain't nothing happened yet. No point in wondering what may happen. If it happens, I'll deal with it then"

DSFL Career

Coming into the DSFL Draft, Mo Magic was a relatively unknown prospect. A very raw talent, Magic's first snaps as a pro came in the DSFL Prospect Bowl, for the Cleveland Orediggers. The team would finish the event with a record of 2-2, and be eliminated in the group stages. Mo would finish the competition with 4 tackle and 1 sack in 4 games, a relatively unremarkable stat line by all measures. In the days coming to the draft, Mo Mamba interviewed with nearly all the DSFL teams, and was said to do very well. Mock drafts by analysts had Mamba going anywhere from 14 to 24, and with the 24th pick in the 2036 DSFL Draft, Mo "Mamba" Magic was selected by the Minnesota Grey Ducks.

Mamba had an immediate impact for the Grey Ducks, coming into a relatively young locker room and being an instantaneous leader. After a rather tumultuous preseason, Mo and the Minnesota Grey Duck rolled into the new season with a big win, and Mo would record the first tackle of his official pro career. In Week 2 against the Dallas Birddogs, Mamba would record his first tackle for loss, and multi-tackle game (3 total). He would pick up his first sack a week later against the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, and during their second meeting with the Buccaneers in Week 11, Magic would record his first forced fumble.

Unfortunately for Mo and the Grey Ducks, they would finish with a record of 6-8 - just short of the playoffs. While he didn't know it at the time, Mo's first year in the DSFL would be his only.

NSFL Draft

In the weeks leading up to the NSFL Draft, Mamba was rumoured to be in contact with only a handful of NSFL teams - the Colorado Yeti, the Yellowknife Wraiths, and the Honolulu Hahalua. Mock drafts had him placed as a late first rounder to second round value. However after several controversial articles from his brother, Michael Magic, Mo Mamba's value took a bit of a fall. Now projected to fall into the late second round, another rumour about Mamba making a verbal commitment to play only for Colorado caused his stock to fall into the third round territory.

The NSFL Prospects Combine did little to help Mamba, who had an average showing compared to the rest of the 2037 defensive tackle class, but remained within the top 5 of the position group for all tests. During the team interviews is where it is said that Mamba distinguished himself from the elite. However, to analysts, it was only good enough to solidify Mamba's position in the second round. In fact, out of over 200 professional mock drafts from various members of the establishment, only 1 person had Mamba projected in the first round.

Not wanting to chance being one of the last ones taken that were still at the draft, Mamba chose to return to his family in Vancouver, Canada to watch the draft from home. Much to his surprise, and the surprise of many, the Colorado Yeti came calling at eighth overall. Mamba became the third defensive taken in the first round, and signed a 3 year entry level contract within days of being drafted. He has been retained by the Yeti, and is expected to make his NSFL debut in 2037
