Mikel MVP van Perkins (born August 30, 2015) is an American football cornerback for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years
Mikel van Perkins was born 2015 in Amsterdam, to Jennet and Jimmy van Perkins. His father has always been his big Idol. Jimmy played for 8 Years in the XFL for several teams. Jimmy had to end his carrer after receiving a carrer threatening injury. Therefore, his father was Mikels biggest Idol in his childhood and he always wanted to step in his fathers footsteps and keep on living his fathers dream of playing football in one of the biggest leagues of the world. Jimmy started to work with him at the age of 5 and Mikel started to play for the youth team of the Amsterdam Admirals at the Age of 9. He early found out that playing in the defense made him more fun then in the offense and that the position of the cornerback is his favorite position of it all. In interviews he always quoted his father :"" Offense wins games, but defense wins championships""!. In the age of 17 some scouts of the university of Colorado scouted him in an international training camp in the USA and he received a scholarship at the collage of Colorado."
College career
His biggest step in his carer was to move to the university of Colorado in the age of 17. In the Beginning he had a lot of communication problems and he did miss his family. These problems startet to affect his performance on the field. He had a bad start at the College team of Colardo. He could not connect to his performances from one year ago. After a hard season and not that much time on the field the last season his english skills aproved and he started to connect to other players of the team. In his next season he started to show his true potential and he went from special team to the starting team. Although some great indivudal players they missed the college playoffs two seasons in a row. In these two years Mikel had some great defensive plays which made scouts of some DSFL teams noticing him. In his last season for the College team of Colorado he had one aim. This aim was reaching the playoffs and have a great last season with his team. In this last season they started 0-2. After some close next games they improved from game to game and ended the regular season with 10-3 and a second place in their division. In the playoff the won the first game but lost the second game to the future champion team of Nevada. Mikel had a great last season with 3 interception touchdowns and 6 interceptions in general. After that season he was looking forward to the draft.
