Mike Hunt (born January 7, 2021) was an American football wide receiver for the Minnesota Grey Ducks of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

In 2037 Duke University signed a Wide Receiver 2 Star Recruit Mike Hunt from Chargers Catholic High School in Flint, MI. He was not heavily recruited by many Division I teams, the biggest Division I school that looked at him was Duke University. He has been a lifelong Duke University sports fan, and he always wanted to attend school their and he got a Full Ride Scholarship for Academics but also wanted to go to Duke to play football. So, Coach Hill asked Mike if he was interested to be recruited by Duke, of course Mike was excited. Mike Hunt has never been that excited in his life and he wanted to make this opportunity and become the great wide receiver in Duke’s history. When he was a young man he has always had the dream to play wide receiver, he was never tall enough to play, so he had to play middle linebacker in middle school. Finally, his freshman year of high school he grew from 5 foot 4 to 6 foot 3!

He grew so much that he went from playing defensive lineman to Wide Receiver, he only played a few games in the eighth grade. But he went on to practice with the Wide Receivers for tryouts. The varsity coach put him up against the best corner on the team who went on to play college football for the University of Ohio State. Mike Hunt and the corner lined up and it was a simple go route, with his amazing speed he blew by the corner had a 3-yard cushion and the QB coach threw a perfect pass in the hands of Mike Hunt and he would catch it and run it into the endzone. The way Mike Hunt destroyed the future 5-star prospect cornerback, had the varsity coach thinking about this young man playing on the varsity team. So, Mike Hunt was asked to… do it again. Mike lined up again and ran a curl route and went 5 yards was going so fast he planted but the corner kept running and left a massive 5 yard cushion and when Mike Hunt caught it, he turned up field juke left and the cornerback went left, but Mike Hunt went right and ran it in for a touchdown, everyone who was trying out circled around the two and went nuts after Mike Hunt caught it and juked the cornerback out. He was so excited and then the coach came up to him and asked if he wanted to try out with the varsity team. Well of course Mike Hunt said yes. Mike Hunt was so excited tog get his football career started on the varsity team, he wanted to be the very best in the game.

As a wide receiver you have to have such a complicated combination of traits like agility, body control, strength, quickness, soft hands, physical stamina, concentration, focus, toughness, pride, eye-hand coordination, vision, intelligence, the ability to conceptualize concepts. The coach told a local reporter that he has not seen this talent before in any player he coached. Mike Hunt will lead this team to many state championships. His freshman year he played on the outside would catch the majority of the passes in a game, he had 160 receptions with 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, he shattered every record that this high school had a record in receiving. He started to get looks from Division II and III colleges, but he did not know why there were no Division I teams coming to look at him, so he wanted to get better and break more records other than his school, he was going for state records, but his sophomore year did not go as planned. He still ended up winning the state championship for his high school, and they destroyed every game by at least 40 points. But Mike wanted more. He wanted more records to be shattered.

The second year of his high school football career he had just about the same numbers but he did break some state records; he caught more touchdowns, broke the record by 5 TDs. He also missed the reception record by 5 catches, he had 4,500 yards, the record was a record that many people said that will not be touched. So, Mike Hunt stated on a news report “I want the record to be shattered, and I want them to know who shattered it, but I want the people to know who said it will never be done, because those are the people I am playing for.” Mike Hunt was so focused his second year, but the QB could not get the ball out enough in games for Mike Hunts liking, but luckily for his junior year someone transferred to his high school that will change Mike Hunts career forever. Mike Hunt and his team would go on and be undefeated again and win yet another State Championship, if it was not for Mike Hunts MASSIVE 13 catches and 120 yards and 4 touchdowns… they would have not won that game. Mike Hunt broke more school records and playoff state records as well! Mike Hunt was getting looked at low tier Division I teams, which he thought was just fine. But again, Mike Hunt wanted more and more teams looking at him, he had some choices in mind going into his third year. The Junior quarterback came into the team locker room during the playoffs and would be the practice squad QB during the practices, this young man transferred from out of state to join this team to play with Mike Hunt because he thought he was the best Wide Receiver in the country. The young QB came into this team with 78 TDs and over 10 thousand yards. He was excited to get started and play alongside Mike Hunt.

Mike Hunt came into his junior year excited and became very good friends with the new transfer QB, they became best friends and Mike Hunt wanted to go to the same university as his new best friend so bigger schools started looking at him, before the football season started and he said he wants to bring his best friend QB on the team as well. The Division I teams did not bite on the offer right away, some teams changed their minds later that football season, because these two broke just about every record in the book for passing, receiving, completions, touchdowns, yards, yards after catch, and yards after contact. I mean just about everything. Mike Hunt broke the record that said could never be broken, the total yards in a season. He shattered it, absolutely destroyed it by a thousand yards and he broke every record in the playoffs as well. Mike Hunt was so excited to share this with his new best friend and was excited to get him a State Championship as well. Mike Hunt was the best wide receiver in the state of Michigan, has every record he could possibly get was under his name. He wanted to go for the country high school records, he has broken the Michigan High School Career records as well, but he wanted to do it all!! There was one university who both Mike Hunt and his best friend wanted to play for, but they were not contacted by this university just yet. Mike Hunt would go on to win his third consecutive state championship and as well as his third consecutive MVP in the State of Michigan. He was just on fire, nobody could stop him.

His final season in high school which would be his greatest but worst year. Both of the best players were going into their senior year, Mike Hunt and his best friend the QB. The senior season for the two were fantastic on the field, they broke many more records state and countrywide and Mike Hunt became the best player to come out of the State of Michigan. He was being recruited by the biggest schools. But the two wanted one school in particular to come calling. Then this happened… which was the worst thing to ever happen to Mike Hunt. His father passed away after the season was over and it made his decision that much harder where he wanted to go play football. Michigan called, and he declined the offer, and he said “uhhh no thank you” to the Michigan State Spartans and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He and his father were a diehard Maize and Blue University of Michigan fans, so that is why. He had his heart set on the team. His father said this would be great for you to go to this university, both Mike Hunt and the QB. Mike and the QB were asked to the HIGH SCHOOL Under Armor Game. One of the most prestigious games for high school players transitioning to College ball. He worked his tail off these four years and became the winning football player capturing 4 state championships as well as breaking every school record set by previous players, and breaking every record he was able to break at his position at state and country level. It was time for the game and Mike Hunt and the QB would be on the same team and that was not smart, they would end up winning the game by 25. Mike Hunt caught 13 of the QBs 15 passes; he ended up with 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. The two wanted to make the decision during the game like every big-name high school player was doing. But they decided mid game to do something different, which may or may not get them in trouble. Before the last touchdown was thrown before they were pulled after the second quarter, someone has placed two college hats with his father’s birthday which was the day of the game on both hats and would score a touchdown and do it when they knew they were being pulled from the game. So, on the last touchdown Mike Hunt was wide open for a 45-yard touchdown he ran to the goal posts and inside he pulled out two bags that were shaped like hats. Mike and the QB would go to the camera and take the helmets off and scream “IN AUGUST WE WILL BE FIGHTING FOR THE DUKE BLUE DEVILS!!!” The crowd cheered and started chanting “DDDDDDDUUUUUUUUKKKKKKEEEEEEE”. They threw the hats on and Mike Hunt shouted “LOVE YA POPS!!!”. These two next journeys should be a good one. Off to college!

College career

His freshman year of college for both high school legends traveled to Durham, North Carolina. They were set on trying to fight for the number one position at their positions. Mike Hunt thought to himself that he could easily be the number one receiver at Duke University. But for his good buddy he had to work to beat this mediocre QB. He was not worried about beating him out, but this QB was loved by everyone, and they saw through his mediocre quarterback play and he became the poster boy for Duke Football. The coach also loved this QB like his own son..... that was because it was the coach's son. So, Mike Hunt came up with a plan to go up against the number one defense and try to beat them with his buddy to show the coaches that they are the best choices for the starting job! The starting defense went up against the second string offense in a scrimmage and vice versa starting offense against the second string defense and Mike Hunt and the second string offense scored 42 points to the starting offense 14 in 2 quarters of play. The coaches sat down that day and realized who the day one starter is going to be. They chose the two TRUE freshmen to lead this team. The new boys on campus were thinking it was more of a test because they were coming into this new season ranked as the 25 best teams in the country. First game of the year with the runner up National Champions Florida. They came into the year as the second best team in the country. Let us see what these two do against a high powered defense!

The first college game of these young freshmen were going up against a top 3 defense last season. The game started with Duke getting the ball first. As the two young players made their way to the field and playing at the University of Florida and it was so loud they could not even hear themselves. The first play from scrimmage…. 74 yard touchdown to Mike Hunt! The crowd was silenced. And the fans of 80k plus were quiet the rest of the game. Mike Hunt would catch 4 touchdowns and run a touchdown in as well. 15 catches for 245 yards. Broke a few Duke University single game records that day. Mike's best friend, the new quarterback of this team only had 4 incompletions in this game. Duke would win this game 35-17 against number 2 Florida. Duke would jump up to number 15 in the rankings. Duke would play a few decent teams and blow them out of the water outscoring the opponents 95-20 in the two games. The two true freshmen were on every radar for the Heisman Trophy 3 games into the season. Duke is now ranked as a top ten team. The first time in 10 years they have broke the top ten. Duke has change to qualify for the 8 team playoffs for the National Championship. They would go on to win and win… and win! They were 10-0 coming into the last two games of the year against number 3 ranked Clemson and they would easily beat them 32-14 and take a seat as one of the best teams in the country.

Duke would go on to win the ACC Championship Game by 14 points and stamped their ticket to the playoffs for the National Championships they went on to play Florida who they beat in and these young freshmen came into Tallahassee and put it to that top 3 defense. Mike Hunt will go on to break every Duke season record in receiving. He had 120 receptions, and 1,600 yards and scored 23 times. Mike Hunt's best friend the QB! He would go on to break single season passing yards, passing touchdowns, and completions. He doubled the record. Duke may have struck gold with these two stars recruits out of Michigan. We have seen these two guys break records and win high school championships, but they wanted the biggest of them all. A National Championship. They would go on to get to the National Championship game and they had to face a team that Mike Hunt has grown up hating with a passion. The Ohio State Buckeyes. The number 1 and number 2 teams face off for the National Championship trophy. Mike Hunt was ready, he has been preparing for this moment for so long, he wanted to win this for his pops. And nothing was stopping him… BUT the best defense in the country had other words. They went after the two heisman finalists on social media all week preparing for this game the Ohio State Buckeyes wanted to get into the young players head. The game was finally here. It was time to put up or shut up.

Here we go, the National Championship game was here, and it was time for Mike Hunt to ball out and win a National Championship for his team and most importantly for his father. The game started like every Duke game started, with a touchdown to… Mike Hunt. It was a 43 yard bomb. He was wide open, he has been blowing by every corner, safety in this season, but this touchdown was extra special because do you remember the cornerback Mike Hunt had to go up against in high school….. Well he was going to be guarding Mike Hunt again in this National Championship game. The Junior cornerback was ready to take back his vengeance against Mike Hunt, but he could not stop him this drive. Ohio State would go on to score 14 unanswered points and would take a lead over the Duke Blue Devils going into the second quarter. Duke finally got another score after a 55 years completion to Mike Hunt and he was downed at the 1 yard line. So the All American QB, runs it in for a touchdown to tie the game up at 14. Duke's defense was playing good enough to only give up 20 points going into halftime. Duke had one last chance before half to go take a lead. They were driving down the field and Mike Hunt's specialty was 10 yards and throw it up for him to come down with it. So, Mike Hunt on his old teammate, and the ball is up in the air and he has him beat and came down with the ball. It was one of his best catches of his career. They took the lead 21 to 20 going into half.

Duke had a lead on the best team in the country. Mike and his best bud were excited but wanted to remind everyone we still had a whole half to play and it was far from over. Duke came out and kicked off to Ohio State and 4 minutes later Ohio State would be putting the ball in the endzone. Duke’s defense has not seen this good of a defense all year. They had to all go out and play the best defense for the rest of this game. Mike Hunt added yet another touchdown to his stat total on this game. He now has 3 touchdowns for the game. Mike Hunt is playing like a senior. He is leading like a senior he has great knowledge of the game of football. So, while he was on the sidelines he was talking, and walking around motivating every single player and even coaches. He is a very special young man! The defense got a massive stop and gave the ball to a RED HOT Duke offense. Duke chewed the clock out and ran it down to about 5 seconds left in the third quarter. They got a field goal after a breakout run by the senior running back, got into the redzone and could not capitalize. So, Duke was down three going into the fourth quarter. Ohio State got the ball back and could only manage a field goal but ran 7 minutes off the clock. With only 8 minutes left into the game Mike Hunt and this offense came into this drive and try to run the clock down, but also score a touchdown to win the game.

The game came down to this drive! They thought… Duke would score a touchdown in 2 minutes, a wide open slot receiver for a 69 yard touchdown to take the lead. Ohio State marched down and got a touchdown and went up by one point with less than 2 minutes left to go in the game. The Duke offense drove to the 35 yard line where they had 30 seconds left to try and score. They tried to get the safety’s to bite on Mike Hunt going for the end zone. But they never got it. It was fourth down on the 35 yard line and somehow got Mike Hunt one on one. The ball was snapped and thrown up to perfection and Mike Hunt came down with that ball. It was game over. Duke took the lead with only seconds left. Ohio State had a chance but had to throw Hail Marys and eventually got picked on the last play of the game as time expired! The Duke Blue Devils have done it! They are National Champions!! They have won the National Championship for first time in over 100 years. But this National Championship was well deserved. Mike Hunt would not win the MVP…. but his good buddy the QB took that award home. They both won best quarterback and wide receiver for the NCAA, but now they have a National Championship to add to the list! Mike Hunt ended up winning the Heisman Trophy, just barely winning it again his best friend! The Duke Blue Devils would go into the off-season as National Champions and the number 1 team in the country.

The two players sophomore seasons were just like the season before. They broke game records and season records. Close to career records. But this time the quarterback got to lift the Heisman Trophy this season. They would go on to be undefeated again and win yet another National Championship. But this time they got to beat a tough Alabama team 55 to 28. Mike Hunt broke most touchdowns in a championship game. Mike Hunt was excited to win two National Championships, and he got more awards than he can imagine. He was ready to go for more, achieve more than he can handle, win everything and even try to break career NCAA records! He was faced with tough times going into his junior year, his mother would get very sick and be sick through the whole season. He wanted to go out and fight every game and win by a hundred points every game. He wanted to battle like his mother was battling. As another National Championship game drew closer, his mother was strong enough to attend his game and what could be his final game as Duke Blue Devil. The QB and Mike were going to decide after the National Championship game. Duke would win yet another championship back to back to back! It was time for people to realize this players were the real deal and ISFL teams were starting to notice. But he was not ready to go just yet. Both players announced during the post game press conference that they will be attending one more year to try and go 4 and 0 in the national title game.

Duke was the greatest team in the history of NCAA football. The players they recruited and got to come in are players who can take this team and get more wins down the road. Building for the future. Everyone that was on the team for the first National Championship was just about gone only a few were left and the main two that were left were Mike Hunt and his best friend the QB! With two Heisman Trophies under the QBs belt, Mike Hunt wanted to get his second one and they both wanted to win back to back to back to back National Championships. They have not lost a game in their career at Duke. A perfect record of 45 and 0! That is just amazing work for these two now seniors. They are often called leaders of men! They take charge and do what a coach can not do. Mike Hunt is a born leader, he wants to win another National Championship so you know he will do what it takes to win it. Now as a senior Mike Hunt was not just thinking about finishing school and getting his degree, but also about the ISFL. He knew he was going to have to have a great ISFL Combine. But he wanted to finish this season out strong. He wanted to have another breakout year like he did his freshmen year. The weight of this team now fell on his shoulders, he took everything that happened on and off the field as his responsibility. He wants the team to know that this is the team that is gonna make history, and this is the team who is gonna want to win the National Championship for a fourth year.

Mike Hunts senior season so far was a fantastic one! He has broken every career record that Duke Blue Devils wide receivers have set. He is now considered the best Duke Blue Devil player to ever walk onto the field with a Duke University jersey. He is best of all time in every wide receiver category in the ACC and just about the NCAA. He will end up breaking them all, and in the last game of the regular season he broke the all time record for touchdowns in a career. He has done it. He set out to be the best college player in the history of the NCAA and go on to the ISFL and be a great there. He would end up winning another National Championship and did not lose a game his entire career. The way the entire NCAA sees it is that Mike Hunt and the Duke Blue Devils are the best team in the last decade. With the National Championship game over will and Duke winning 52-10 and taking their fourth nations championship in 4 years, Mike Hunt made a promise that he intends to keep.

DSFL career

With the 21st Pick in the S26 Draft Mike Hunt was selected to play for the Minnesota Grey Ducks. He got a call when the second round started, it was the scout for a team that was on his list. He said the GM will be drafting you if you are there. I hope you fall to us. The teams who passed on him were not happy with his combine and senior bowl. Finally the second round started and the call from a UNKNOWN number popped up on his phone. The man says “Mike Hunt… holy sh** I am glad to see you on the board. We are taking you when it’s our turn. Be ready. I will call again when it is time.” Mike Hunt was confused by what just happened. So pick 20 comes up ok the screen. Phone rings again. “Mike Hunt.. son are you ready to play in the DSFL?” Mike was so excited he said YES! The voice said “this is CC with the Minnesota Grey Ducks and we are excited to have you on board, our scout said you guys hit it off and had a great conversation about life, sports, and MILK! I want to welcome you to the Ducks team and we will see you soon.”

Has was not drafted into the S27 Draft. The ISFL gave him a chance to participate in the ISFL Draft Combine again a few days after the funeral. The words of “Do it for pops” are still weighing heavy on his brain and he wants to do it but he feels like he can not go one without his best friend. He lost his father in high school and now his best friend just minutes away from their two lives starting again in the ISFL. Mike Hunt realized it was all over in the matter of seconds. He arrived at the combine. This combine was made for draftees who knew they weren’t going to make it to the ISFL, not even get drafted for the DSFL. It was their one last effort to make it. It was not going to be televised until word got out that Mike Hunt was going to be there and then it blew up! The place was packed with scouts and fans. Mike Hunt was not the Mike Hunt we saw in the last 8 years. It looked like he could not even catch a pass. His favorite route he ran it 5 to times… caught 1 pass out of the 5. Everyone who was watching was shocked that he was not catching those passes. His speed which he was known for. He ran the seventh worst 40 yard dash time out of wide receivers. Mike was asked what happened. He only replied “I do not know”. His head was not into the game of football. It was a traumatizing experience for him. He was not the same person he was weeks ago.
