Lux Opal (born October 14, 2020) was an American football safety. He played college football for University of Minnesota (MN).

Early years

Lux Opal was born in Twin Peaks, Washington to Sarah and Leland Opal. Her mother a marine biologist and her father a fossile extractor for rare DNA did not expect the daughter of two scientists to grow up to be a football player. Lux did not get along with many people growing up besides her childhood friend Donna. Lux had it tough making friends so she turned to the gridiron to bond with others and release some frustration. Although her teammates did not take her seriously at first she used this as fuel for her competitive fire. Lux would show game in and game out that she was the best player on her team no question. Her parents however did not approve of her early football career, citing things like the "dangers of concussions". Lux continued to pursue her goals despite these warnings, which put a strain on her relationship with her parents. Lux finished at Twin Peaks high school as a sought after recruit for some schools and a do not commit to others, she was polarizing for teams to say the least. However, one team decided to take a chance and Lux announced she would be attending the University of Minnesota, she faked her death to get out of peaks and leave her family behind. It is rumored that Lux had a different name before all of this occured.

College career

Lux hit the ground running when she signed on with the Gophers at the University of Minnesota. She informed the school beforehand and used her birthrday money and money she earned from tutoring to bribe them, turning a blind eye to her faked death, allowing her to still play. Lux had a solid rookie season at the strong safety position, while it was good it was not great. Some say she should switch to linebacker but due to her shorter stature she was kept at safety. Lux ended the season with 85 tackles, 12 for a loss, 8 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. While she was great in the box she struggled in coverage only getting 12 pass defences in 14 games with one interception off of a tipped ball. Lux improved solidly her sophmore season putting up a similar in the box statline, 90 tackles, 10 for a loss, 12 sacks, 3 forced fubles with 2 recoveries and a safety. In the air she got her pass defences up to 18 on the season with no interceptions. Lux had shown she wasn't the greatest at turnovers but would play a bend don't break style defence where you would not run against her side. He final season at the University of Minnesota showed she was ISFL material as she lead the team in tackles with 138 tackles, 19 for a loss, 9 sacks, 4 forced fumbles all recovered and one returned for a touchdown, and 20 pass defences and 2 interceptions. Lux was ready to take the next step and declared for the DSFL draft.
