Luke Watterson (born March 28, 2021) is an American football linebacker for the Dallas Birddogs of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Luke Watterson was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Mary and Darryl Watterson. Living in Pittsburgh, Luke grew up as a Steelers fan, idolizing Steelers OLB TJ Watt. Luke grew a passion for football, and practiced almost every day, soon earning his way onto his high school's football team. In high school, Luke had a standout performance, leading the state in tackles despite missing a large percentage of games due to injury. Luke also set multiple records at his high school. It was also at high school where Luke got his nickname, "Watt no.4", a homage to his idol TJ Watt. Luke also began to study film, trying to get his game to the next level. He attended a camp for the premier high school players in the league. Heading into college, Luke had many scholarship offers but ultimately decided to attend the University of Wisconsin. Interestingly enough, the University of Wisconsin was also TJ watt's college.

College career

At the University of Wisconsin, Luke saw more playing time than normal in his first year due to the team having a large weakness at the linebacker position. Luke showed flashes of greatness, but was mostly playing at a mediocre level as Wisconsin would go 3-10 to finish at the bottom of their division. In his second year, Luke played incredibly well, leading a defense that was ranked top 3 in the nation. Luke would end up being voted 2nd team all pro as Wisconsin went 9-4, a great improvement from the year before. However, many critics labled it as a fluke, and believed that Luke didn't have the potential to make it to the NFL. In his final year in College, Luke silenced most of the doubters, leading the nation in tackles and being voted 1st team all pro as Wisconsin went 11-2, dominating the division. However, in one of the final games of the season, Watterson injured his ankle, dropping his draft stock signifigantly.
