Luke Smyles (born October 4, 1999) is an American football defensive end for the San Antonio Marshals of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for University of Michigan (Michigan) before being drafted by the San Antonio Marshals in the 2026 DSFL Draft (S11).

Early years

Luke Smyles was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, one of the wealthier suburbs of Chicago. He played his high school football at Hinsdale Central High School, and used his size and strength to dominate the high school game. He earned a place on USA Today's All-USA high school second team defense as a junior, and the first team as a senior, coming up just short of their defensive player of the year accolade. He helped the Red Devils to their first ever championship in his senior season. He was a hot commodity for college teams, earning interest from at least 17 different colleges.

College career

After combing through a plethora of offers, Smyles ultimately chose to go to one of the top teams in the nation and also staying relatively close to his hometown. Smyles accepted the offer from Michigan University, joining the 5th ranked Wolverines. As a freshman, he earned just 3 starts, in the first 3 games of the season, getting his opportunity to see the college game first hand before the coaches put him on the bench to learn. His sophomore season earned him a starter spot from the get-go, however he suffered a shoulder injury in the 8th game of the season, and he would miss the next 4 games, before coming back on the bench in the final game of the season and the playoffs. His junior season went off without a hitch, starting all 13 games and dominating the field. He tied the Wolverines record for sacks in a game, with 5, and smashed the single season record with 15.5. He finished with 23.5 sacks in his Wolverines career, and had he played a senior season very well could have broken the career record. The Wolverines lost in the CFP final that season.
