Leland Breeland (born April 6, 1999) is an American football defensive tackle for the Free Agent of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Boston University (BU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Leland Breeland was born in New York City to his father Peter Breeland and Sheena Breeland as the youngest of three boys. Neither of his parents were interested in athletics, and actively discouraged playing sports when Leland was young, until he started showing an extreme affinity for football. Leland enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football when he was younger, but due to his size, he gravitated towards football. He began to dominate against his peers so started to play on teams with his older brothers. This experience helped him immensely as he was playing against older kids from a very young age. Breeland's parents eventually supported him in goals and helped him to succeed in football. He played for the Manhattan Turtles little league team before attending Central State High School and playing both tight end and defensive end for the team. His senior year season, Central State High School was carried by Leland Breeland to playoffs in both basketball and football, but unfortunately losing first round in both sports.

College career

Leland was recruited to Boston University after strong play in high school. Because he was still undersized for his freshman season, he did not play much, only seeing snaps in two games that season. Going into his sophomore season, Breeland became a starter for BU after an impressive offseason showing, and ended up second in sacks for the team as a defensice tackle. Teammates and coaches remarked at his special style of quiet leadership, leading by example in the weight room and on the field. His junior season was less remarkable due to a freak injury, yet his senior season showed his dominance as he led the team in hurries and sacks and eventually a bowl game appearance. Leland Breeland majored in Finance during his time at Boston University, and often stressed the importance of an education to the rest of his team. He hopes to help other players understand the importance of managing their finances when he finally enters the professional leagues.
