Keynel KMZ McZeal (born April 17, 2020) is an American football runningback for the Portland Pythons of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Keynel McZeal was born to run. From the young age of six, McZeal was that one kid on the football team that played QB just because a direct snap was the quickest way to get him the ball. By middle school, it became apparent that KMZ wasn't a QB. He moved all over the field from RB, to WR, to KR- anywhere his coaches could get him the ball. In high school, he was paired up with one of the best sophomore QBs in the state in Roschon Johnson. Keynel's speed and height made him one of the best deep threat recievers in the state. Unfortunately, he couldn't catch. Playing him at RB seemed like the right choice, but with QB Roschon Johnson rushing 30 times a game, there wasn't the opportunity. Even as a mediocre reciever plagued by drops, McZeals size and athleticism earned him offers. College coaches knew he had potential; they just needed to find the right position.

College career

Keynel McZeal commited to Texas A&M to play for Kevin Sumlin's Aggies. Sumlin saw potential for McZeal at tight end. A problem arose when McZeal still couldn't catch. He spent a redshirt and redshirt freshman season at A&M. He received little playing time. Incoming recruits were easily jumping KMZ on the depth charts. McZeal decided to go the junior college route instead. His first year at Garden City was a huge success. Playing at RB for the first time, KMZ racked up 1600 rushing yards, and 25 touchdowns. With his electrifying speed, KMZ took 3 kicks back for touchdowns on the season. He even saw some time at safety where his speed and height made QBs think twice about the deep ball. (They didn't know he couldn't catch) After that fantastic season, McZeal waited for offers to come pouring in. Not a single D1 school was willing to take a chance on the young RB. He was big, fast, and strong- it didn't make sense.

DSFL career

Finally, McZeal gave up on D1 and entered the DSFL draft. Unfortunately, his application was late. He was picked up on waivers by the Portland Pythons the day after the draft. He was to be the teams 2nd running back in a running back committee. The Pythons struggled on the seaon going 5-9. Perhaps it was due to an underuse of the running game. The two backs combined for over 2000 yards on the season, but pundits speculate the duo could have combined for over 3000. McZeal was given 199 carries on the 14 game season. He rushed for 998 yards and 8 touchdowns. He enters the NSFL as the media's 4th ranked running back. He is expected to fall to the mid rounds of the draft, and be sent down next season. If he remains in the DSFL, he would be projected among the top MVP contenders next season. The hype is only beginning.
