Joey Din (born May 8, 1997) was an American football defensive end for the Minnesota Grey Ducks of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Joey Din was born and raised in San Diego, CA. His father was in the navy as an aircraft mechanic and his mother was a school teacher. His father retired from the navy and they decided to stay in SD where he started his own taco shop because tacos rock. Joey attended Eastlake high school where he mainly played baseball as a first baseman for his team, it wasn't until his senior year that he decided to try football. Joey was a natural becoming one of the best DE/TE in the state playing both sides of the ball. Despite getting offers to play at several D1 baseball schools and even getting drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the last round of the draft. He decided to take his natural ability to play tight end and defensive end to Tucson AZ to play football at the University of Arizona as a walk on

College career

At the University of Arizona Joey was redshirted. Joey knew he was the best player in that team, but he had to prove himself first. After the first 6 games of the season the wildcats had 6 consecutive losses and some injuries on both side of the ball. The coach's knew something had to change which opened the door not Joey to get his first start. His stat line consisted of 2 sacks a TFL and 5 tackles on top of that. He even had a 15 yard reception at TE. Joey finished his junior season at Arizona with 69 tackles, 30.5 sacks, and 29 tackles for loss. Joey wasn't viewed as a strong prospect, most scouts said he has no technique. All he used was his strength and size to make plays. Joey knew what he had to do. We had a press conference and said he was going to prove all the doubter wrong and then decided to declare for the DSFL Draft

Professional career

DSFL career

Joey was taken in the 5th round by the Minnesota grey ducks. Most scouts were right about him having no technique, but after one season playing opposite of 8dux. Working and training with him, he developed his game to have a fantastic rookie season. Joeys first season ended in a very familiar fashion, with a loss in the mini. Although he did have a lot of success at his position being close to the top of leading in sacks and forced fumbles. With that being his last season in the DSFL he hopes to continue that success at the ISFL level and help Austin get some Ws

ISFL career

Joeys first season in the ISFL was a successful one if you count only their personal stats. They finished with a respectable 9 sacks and even made the pro bowl in their first season in the ISFL. As a team though it left something to be desired. Austin finished 5-11 and at the bottom of their conference. They are currently in a rebuild and it seems that Joey Din is very excited about the future of this franchise and is ready to get to work to win next season.

Joeys second season in Austin was somewhat more successful, while the team finished better in record by two games and weren’t at the bottom of their conference (which is exactly what they wanted for their rebuild) Joey hit sort of a sophomore slump with less sacks and no fumbles. Joey did however recited more tackles this season than last which is a good sign. With another pro season under his belt and much exp gained, Joey fully expects an amazing year next season

Season number 3 was definitely a set back on team perform despite the teams roster continuing to be filled with young and improving talent. It was however somewhat of a step forward for Joey Din. Joey finished his third pro season with 8 sacks which is 3 more than last season, 8 TFLs which is 4 more than last, and and 2FF / 1FR this year up from 0/0. Joey is hoping to continue this upward trend and continues to improve during the off season. Joeys goal is to finish with double digit sacks and help his team not be the worst team this season.
