Jeffrey Phillips (born March 5, 2013) is an American football tight end for the Orange County Otters of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Simon Fraser University (SFU) and declared his intent to enter the professional ranks prior to season 21.

Early years

Jeffery Phillips was born in Vancouver, B.C., he lived in foster care for the majority of his childhood until he was adopted by Laura and John Phillips. When Jeff was 9 years old he had grown to be much taller than his class mates and his parents enrolled him in a local football club. Jeffrey played for the North Vancouver Sea Lions, and quickly became one of their strongest offensive players. His height gave him a strong advantage against peers his age and over time he filled out his tall frame. Over the next few years Jeff played for several local teams and when he started high school at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in Surrey, B.C. he was already one of the best members of the football team at the age of 13. By the age of 15 Phillips was dominating the high school football league and leading the team to several local championships. Jeff was well known as a fan of the NSFL, he would follow all the teams closely and always know the stats of different players. Even at a young age you could ask him anything about the league and he would answer in detail. His favorite team is the Orange County Otters, who were winning championships already when he was very young.

College career

It didn't take long for Jeffrey Phillips to be noticed by the college scouts, despite playing in Canada he had a large number of colleges trying to convince him to enroll and offering scholarships across the United States, but Jeffrey elected to stay close to his adoptive parents and his home in the BC Lowermainland. When the time came to pick a college, Jeffrey followed in his father's footsteps and chose to go to the college he graduated from, Simon Fraser University. It wouldn't be the most illustrious choice for his football career, but Jeffrey wanted to stay close to home. Early on playing college football Jeffrey jumped ahead of many of his classmates dominating the field with his size and strength, but as time went on it became clear that he had always been a big fish in a small pond, the real test for Phillips lies in the DSFL and the big leagues, the NSFL. Jeff has declared for the DSFL draft and is awaiting the S22 draft day where he can hopefully hear his name called and start to make his mark in the leagues where everything matters the most to football fanatics.

Professional career

Jeffrey Phillips was drafted 33rd overall in the S21 DSFL entry draft by the Dallas Birddogs, the highly anticipated Tight End was listed in a lot of mock drafts around the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft, so it was a bit of a surprise to see him fall to the 5th round, even if it was just the first pick of round 5. The Birddogs were a brand new expansion team for Season 21. In the DSFL the expansion teams don't get the benefit of an expansion draft, so they were not predicted to do very well in their first season. They however did end up with an even record 10 games into the season at 5-5. Unfortunately the team fell on their faces in the last 4 games of the season and were unable to make their way into the post season. Phillips started the first couple games of the season at his natural Tight End position, but after seeing his speed and movement on the field the Biddogs decided to move him to the outside to run routes as a Wide Receiver. He didn't lead the league as a receiver by any means, but he did have a respectable 37 catches, 424 yards gained, and 6 touchdowns throughout the regular season. Playing as a wide receiver when he really has the build of a tight end seems like a difficult task, but Phillips took well to it and had a solid enough season to make him a top prospect in the S22 NSFL Entry Draft.

In the S22 NSFL Entry Draft Jeffrey Phillips was selected in the 1st round, 10th overall, a whole 23 positions sooner than he was in the DSFL Entry Draft in S21. The Orange County Otters selected Phillips to improve their Tight End position after losing Blaze to the expansion draft. Orange County was in need of a player who could immediately make an impact at the NSFL level. Phillips joined the Otters immediately after the draft and did not spend the typical send down season in the DSFL that has become common for most players in this league. The Season 22 regular season went extremely well for Jeffrey Phillips and the Orange County Otters. The team managed to end with a record of 10-3-0 dominating the ASFC and with the 2nd best record after the Yellowknife Wraiths who ended the season at 11-2-0. Phillips himself took to the high level game almost immediately and started making an impact from the first day of the season. By the end of the season Phillips had amassed 66 receptions, 822 receiving yards, 3 touch downs, and 12 pancakes. To follow up on a successful regular season the Orange County Otters made it to the Ultimus Finals in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Phillips and the Otters they were unable to put away the victory and walk away with the Ultimus Trophy, after leading the game 20-3 the Otters fell flat and let the Colorado Yeti steal the game away from them and hand them a brutal loss.
