Jamdrian LeBayers (born November 18, 2029) is an American football cornerback for the Orange County Otters of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early Years

Jamdrian was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He played a lot of different sports in his younger years. His family never traveled much which meant he spent a lot of time at the local sport grounds where he grew up.

In his early teens Jamdrian was playing for his local basketball and football teams. As things were getting more serious for both teams they were taking up all of his, and his family’s, free time. It was decided that Jamdrian would have to make the tough decision of choosing one sport over the other to focus on. Thanks to his height disadvantage at the time, compared to the other players on his basketball team, he ultimately chose to focus on football.

During his high school years he was put on the school football team. He started out as a wide receiver. But as the school team had a lot of wide receivers already he changed to playing as a cornerback to make sure he got consistent playing time. Initially his plan was to go back to the wide receiver position, but Jamdrian ended up enjoying the cornerback position a lot more.

College Career

Jamdrian’s career continued into his college years after he was accepted into The Ohio State University. As expected he didn’t get much playing time his freshman year. OSU was and still is a powerhouse in the college football scene. There was no lack of talented players in line for the starting jobs. Jamdrian was able to get one start at the cornerback position thanks to the team opting to rest their main starting cornerback because of a lingering injury. Other than that he subbed on for a couple of snaps per game through the year. Mostly at the end of already decided games.

Thanks to his consistency when getting time on the field, Jamdrian saw a solid uptick his senior year. He started 4 out of 12 games. At this point he had locked down the slot as his place to be, and he’s quoted as saying “The slot is where I feel most in control. Close to the action while giving me a great overview to react to the play.”

The last two years of Jamdrian’s college career solidified him as the main starting slot cornerback for OSU. He didn’t miss a game and when at his best was considered one of the best slot players in the league. While there are no major cup-winning plays to his name, his consistency in coverage and ability to read the field is what made him stand out.

Professional Career

2054 (S39)

The Bondi Beach Buccaneers selected the promising cornerback LeBayers first overall in the 2054 DSFL draft. Jamdrian immediately stepped into a starter role opposite of the more experienced Eric Belmont. But not only that. He was also assigned the biggest share of the team's kick return game. Showing just how much they trusted and gave confidence to his speed and agility.

As with most rookies, Jamdrian's season started of slow as he got adjusted to a new level of speed and talent. He was burned on a couple of plays. But as the season progressed, so did he. While his stat line doesn't give him the most tackles, or the most interceptions, Jamdrian's talent showcased itself several times during the Buccaneers' struggling season. Hist most impressive showing happened during week 9. He had several solid plays to deny passes, and most importantly forced and recovered a fumble on their own third of the field. Jamdrian's effort, together with the rest of the team playing incredibly well, lead to their first win in over a season and a half.

2055 (S40)

One year after having been drafted into the DSFL Jamdrian registered for the 2055 ISFL draft. He was selected by the Orange County Otters with the third overall pick of the draft. With the Otters desperate for help on the defensive side of things Jamdrian was called up immediately. Allowing him only one season with the Buccaneers before having to move back to the USA.

During his first season in the ISFL Jamdrian started every game, playing alongside veteran cornerback Ace McAlister. He was also appointed as the team's defensive captain after showing strong leadership skills at Bondi Beach and immediately bonding with his new team in Orange County.

Jamdrian had a very impressive first season playing for the Otters. Reeling in four total interceptions, something he's struggled with his entire career, but also going as far as scoring his first ever touchdown. He is expected to be considered for the defensive rookie of the year award.

2056 (S41)

We saw yet another solid season from Jamdrian with a strong uptick in forced turnovers. Something he had mentioned working on a lot in the previous off-season. He earned his first Defensive Player of the Game recognition in week 3 vs the New York Silverbacks. Mainly thanks to running in with his second career touchdown. But his most impressive effort, that might even earn him a Performance of the Year nomination, came in Week 15 against the Baltimore Hawks. In which he managed 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble with 2 fumble recoveries, 6 whole passes defended, and a flurry of tackles.

Immediately after the disappointing playoff exit against Arizona Outlaws, Jamdrian was quoted as saying: "I feel like both the team and myself have really grown over my first two seasons with the Otters. Although we didn't make it all the way, the coaches and growing talent give us all confidence".

2057 (S42)

A disappointing season overall for the Otters still showed us improvements on Jamdrian's part. But it wasn't all positives. Although Jamdrian managed to greatly improve in defending passes. Actual numbers related to forcing turnovers fell drastically this season. Back to rookie season numbers. It was a season where the entire team regressed unexpectedly. He keeps showing flashes of brilliance but the numbers show that there's no consistency from game to game.

The new coach joining the team for next season might just be what's needed to light a spark under Jamdrian. We're seeing that the talent is there, but it hasn't been showing on the field. The cornerback is quoted saying "I'm disappointed in myself. I have plays where I see the real me, what I can truly do. But other times I'm just not with it. Making poor decisions. It's not acceptable at this level and something I will work on with the new coach."

2058 (S43)

For the first time in Jamdrian's ISFL career he failed to record a defensive touchdown. Likely because of the much lower number of interceptions. It's hard to tell whether this regression happened because of a fluke, or because of game script. Other teams didn't throw the ball much at all against the Otters because of their top of the league secondary. While expecting a touchdown every season is unsustainable, it still feels like a signal of a poorer than usual season for Jamdrian.

But on the bright side Jamdrian was more involved this season than we've seen in the past. Taking on some slot action plus even lining up as the CB1 for a couple of snaps. He might've taken over the CB1 spot in the depth chart this offseason with Ace McAlister reaching a steep drop-off in terms of skill. The talent is still there, but from insider sources we hear that it's all about Jamdrian starting next season.

2059 (S44)

Another disappointing season for Jamdrian and the Otters. The Otters were expected to miss the playoffs this season, but finished lower in the standings still. And at this point it's starting to look like Jamdrian's career has started to stagnate. It's believed he has reached his peak ability. But some are blaming it on him not having the chance to play as CB1. Which is something that will likely be settled by the end of next season. With his partner cornerback Ace McAlister also slowing down there have been whispers that the two will be swapping responsibilities next season.

Jamdrian paired up with Big Mclarge Huge on kick return duties this season. He saw a lot more relative success on the special teams. Almost reaching 28 yard return on average. Which made him a top-10 kick returner in the league. Looking strictly at each team's primary returner Jamdrian enters the top-5. The team has said they're happy with his returning efforts, and Jamdrian will return to the position next season.

2060 (S45)

This season Jamdrian was promoted to the top of the depth chart for the Otters' cornerbacks. Taking over from veteran Ace McAlister. He saw a lot more action because of it as he had to cover the very best receivers on each team they faced. Jamdrian did well this season, proving that the coach's trust wasn't misplaced. We saw a solid increase in tackles and more importantly forced fumbles. If Jamdrian can keep this up, next season is looking like one where he will feast.

However, looking back at this season, the Otters started of slowly. Which left them just outside of a playoff spot. The team has come together well but they haven't clicked yet on the field when it matters. Many fans and teammates look to Jamdrian to lead the defensive squad. This is turning out to be one thing Jamdrian has struggled with, even though his stats are good. He needs to show more leadership qualities to help his team when things aren't going their way.

2061 (S46)

This season, Jamdrian started out strong. Looking like a true pro bowler. Recording most of his forced fumbles and interceptions early on. But as the season went on, he cooled down. Back down to his normal numbers. That of "just" an average cornerback. Which tells us the rumors of Jamdrian's demise were only half true. At this point many critics believe he isn't living up to his full potential, nor meeting the expectations of a CB1 playing in the ISFL.

Jamdrian himself has voiced his own displeasure with some of his performances through his career. But after the playoff game that removed the Otters from contention, he's quoted as saying "This season I showed flashes of what I can really do. My true potential. You can expect more of that from now on".

Even with a good-but-not-quite-up-to-par season, Jamdrian managed to get himself selected to both the ISFL Pro Bowl and the league's second All-Pro team. Two major accomplishments.
