Icebox Riposte (born April 20, 2016) is an American football offensive lineman for the Chicago Butchers of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL).

Early years

Icebox was something of a miracle baby, born over 14 years after his brother Freezer Riposte to his parents still living in Volcano, Hawaii. Continuing with the naming scheme used for his brother, his parents once again chose a name in honor of William "Refridgerator" Perry, this time chosing Icebox obviously. Icebox was pretty quickly ushered into football by his brother that inspired him to eat a lot and become a lineman as well, and his parents who really wanted to be set for life on top of what Freezer was already bringing home. Like his brother, Icebox attended the University of Hawaii, though Icebox chose the dark side of the force in becoming an offensive lineman instead.

College career

Icebox had a wealth of size and strength when he attended University of Hawaii, but he lacked some knowledge of the subtleties of football, having not had the opportunity to play the game himself until the university level. Luckily, this was somewhat helped by discussing with Freezer about how to play the game. Still, Icebox needed to really work on his ability to avoid penalties, as he had trouble learning the complicated snap count schemes of the Rainbow Warriors. This led to either offsides penalties from jumping too early or holding penalties from waiting too long and needing to compensate. He also lacked the technical ability to run or pass block effectively as a unit, instead trying to brute force his way through problems. Though some of these issues have been remedied after a few seasons of experience, Icebox still had a lot to learn to become a complete lineman as he graduated from university and prepared to jump to the DSFL like his brother.

DSFL career

Icebox hoped to join a few different teams as he made the jump to the DSFL. His brother had played for the Pythons and the Coyotes, so either could have been a good fit. However, the Luchadores really appealed to Icebox for their branding and the historic success of the program, as well as being a great current group of players to join in the locker room. He lasted until the fifth round of the draft, but was not too bothered with that considering his position and tendency to stay out of the limelight. Though the team struggled a bit in S23 and it took some time for Icebox to improve upon his flaws that still existed in college, he managed to accumulate decent stats overall. He finished with 32 pancakes and only 3 sacks allowed.

Staying with Tijuana for S24 after being drafted by Chicago for his ISFL franchise, Icebox and the Luchadores both found more success the 2nd time around. Adam Mellott joined the team with Icebox as a new and quickly improving offensive lineman, and the duo paved the way for running back duo Mills and Theeks as well as the rest of the Luchadores offense on the way to a much improved record of 10 wins and 4 losses during the regular season. Though the team suffered an overtime loss to the Seawolves in the playoffs, it was a close game against a strong team and it was hard to be disappointed with anyone's effort out there. In particular Adam's 5 pancakes and Icebox's 4 with no penalties or sacks allowed by either big man were promising signs for the future of the position in the ISFL. On the season, Icebox did not improve in terms of sacks allowed by giving up 3 of those, including an embarrassing two in one game during the final regular season contest against the Seawolves. However, he vastly improved upon his pancake total. His 51 pancakes tied for third in the league with another Luchadores teammate, Kentdavion Davis. Icebox enjoyed his best performance of the season right at the beginning, with 5 pancakes on opening day against the Dallas Birddogs along with no penalties or sacks allowed. Despite the lack of team hardware, it was not for lack of trying, and Icebox and the rest of the Luchadores appeared proud of their performance as a team to close S24.

Icebox once again faced a somewhat unknown draft situation heading into S24. His brother's former team, the San Jose Sabercats, could have been a solid fit, but he had also made some connections with the management staff in Chicago. His parents would also be thrilled to return to the area and see their baby play in the same town as Mr. Refridgerator. The Butchers staff was so impressed by Icebox that they selected him with the first pick of the second round, leading to his status as one of the highest risers from DSFL to ISFL draft. It was unclear at the time what Chicago's plans were for Icebox, as he could have remained with his DSFL club for another season partying it up in Tijuana, or began contributing right away at the ISFL level. In the end Icebox spent another season with the Luchadores before making his ISFL debut in S25 with the Butchers, who are coming off of an exciting playoff berth in S24.
