Hike Mughes (born February 11, 1997) is an American football cornerback for the Tijuana Luchadores of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for University of Central Florida (UCF) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Hike Mughes was born in New Bern, North Carolina, and attended New Bern High School. While there, he was a star, playing basketball, football, and baseball for his team. He won 3 state championships for his football team, becoming a starter on both offense and defense his sophomore year. In his senior year, he recorded 45 catches for 700 yards and 8 touchdowns on offense, and recorded 13 interceptions, including 4 for touchdowns on the defense. He was named the Most Valuable Player in his state that season after recording the game winning interception for a touchdown in the state championship.

College career

Hike continued his success from high school and brought it to college. As a 5 star recruit, he was highly touted, and decided to stay in state to play at the University of North Carolina (UNC). After a disappointing freshman season at UNC, Mughes decided to transfer to a junior college to get a fresh start. After one successful season at junior college, Mughes tranferred to the University of Central Florida for his junior year. Mughes had a prolific year at cornerback for UCF, being named a first-team All Pro at cornerback and second-team All Pro as a return specialist. At cornerback he recorded five interceptions and allowed a measly 43.9 passer rating when targeted. As a returner, he had 3 returns for touchdowns on the year and 31.9 yard per return on kickoffs. He opted to skip his senior season and join the DSFL at the last minute for purely financial reasons, as he needed to be able to support his family.
