Gabriel Darnell Johnson (born August 6, 2007) is an American football kicker who is currently unsigned by a professional team. He played college football for the University of Minnesota and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years
Gabriel was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Darnell Johnson and an unknown woman. His father refused to tell Gabe his mother's name so Gabe grew up in a single-parent home his whole life. Although there had been lots of possible "mother" figures coming through the Johnson home, none had ever stuck around long enough to be called Mom. His father being a DJ certainly didn't help. DJ the DJ worked lots of nights and Gabe was left at Old Man Tomas's house most nights. This is where he was first introduced to football. Despite living in the home of the Falcons, Old Man Tomas was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, and now so is Gabe.
When Gabe entered high school, he tried out for the football team to play quarterback at both his father's and Old Man Tomas's insistence but was cut at the first step. Unfortunately for Gabe, he was then cut from basketball as well before finally being allowed to join the soccer team in the summer. Only being used as a substitute was disparaging for Gabe, but he perceived even whilst being cut yet again from the football team the next year. Gabe saw a massive improvement in games the second year and finally, in his junior year, Gabe took his soccer skills and tried out as kicker for the football team. He made it. After the old kicker showed up high to practice on too many occasions, Gabe played all the games in the regular season. There was also some good news. Old Man Tomas had an in with the University of Minnesota and somehow got Gabe recruited onto the team. He wouldn't get to play much, but it was better than not playing at all.
College career
Gabe was red-shirted in his freshman year, and after star kicker Jonas Larsen from Minneapolis was recruited, Gabe only played a handful of games in his next three years playing. Missing the posts in the Wisconsin-Minnesota game in his senior year may have been his college highlight if it wasn't for his final year. After an unfortunate accident befell Jonas Larsen, Gabe finally got to the play the games he deserved. Scoring over 40 extra points, Gabe had a turn-around in his luck and was soon seen as a reputable kicker.
