Freezer Riposte (born January 16, 2004) was an American football defensive tackle for the San Jose Sabercats of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for University of Hawaii (UH).

Early years

Freezer Riposte was born to displaced Chicagoans in Volcano, Hawaii. His parents named him in honor of their favorite Bear growing up, William "Refrigerator" Perry. Freezer was always a big kid and actually fell in love with rugby originally despite his parents' best efforts. He didn't play football at all until an assistant coach from the University of Hawaii happened to see him completely stuffing anyone that tried to run past him with the ball during a rugby match. He was only a freshman in high school at the time but he impressed the coach so much that the coach kept tabs on him until later on when he was able to offer him his one and only scholarship to the school. The Riposte parents were thrilled, though for Freezer it was a big struggle to give up on his rugby dreams for this wimpy sport with pads and a helmet.

College career

Once Freezer arrived at the University of Hawaii, he realized how overwhelming the sport of football could be. He had of course watched Bears games with his parents, but he had no clue what went into the preparation and training aspects of the game. The team couldn't decide which side of the line to try to train him up at originally, but it quickly became apparent that he played the same on both sides as he gobbled up holding penalties like a bowl of cereal at Guard. From then on he honed his skills as a run-stuffing defensive tackle, though it still took him a season and a half to really learn the technical aspects of the game enough to step onto the field for the team. His college numbers were largely unimpressive as he didn't quite have the speed or elusiveness to get to speedy college QB's, but he still managed 65 tackles, 10 TFL's, and 10 sacks through his 2 and a half seasons of regular playing time.

Professional career

DSFL career

Freezer joined the Portland Pythons temporarily just weeks after the college season had ended for their ultimately failed run at the Ultimini in 2025. By the laws of the league he was then entered into the 2026 DSFL draft, where he would be selected 5th overall by the Kansas City Coyotes. He immediately felt at home in KC, and was even asked to become a co-GM with the squad, which he humbly accepted. The team finished with a fairly strong 9-5 record in his first season, but the Pythons were nearly unstoppable with a 13-1 record and blew away the team in the conference championship game. Though Freezer's playing days with the team would ultimately be over at this point, he stayed on as GM of the squad. During the 2027 season - while also playing for the San Jose Sabercats - Freezer was able to identify enough talent in the DSFL draft and through other shrewd management moves to help the team to their very first Ultimini. This is his proudest football accomplishment to date.

Now feeling like a seasoned veteran, Freezer was anxiously anticipating his draft spot in the upcoming NSFL draft, originally hearing that he could go as high as second overall. He was somewhat shocked, then, when a team not really on his radar - the San Jose Sabercats - selected him first overall. Some of his competition had been playing the game for many more years than Freezer, and normally a defensive tackle isn't nearly so highly regarded, so it was really a surprise to him. However, soon after joining the team it became apparent that it was a perfect fit for him, with many more young up and comers joining together to take the league by storm. While the team ultimately fell short in the playoffs, they had a strong regular season record only behind the champion Otters, and appear to be on the rise as we move into 2028 and beyond.
