Miles Weperom (born May 29, 2000) is an American football safety who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Miles Weperom is an American football player and was born in Palo Alto, California on May 29, 2000. Miles was born as the second son to Brevin and Chelsea Weperom. His parents moved from New Mexico to the San Jose, California area during the Tech Boom. Miles, and his older brother, Martin, both took a liking to sports at a young age. Martin gravitated toward baseball and Miles developed a passion for football. Miles attended Palo Alto High School and was a 3 year starter on the varsity football team. He was part of a dominating defense that owns the state record for most consecutive regular season shutouts (23) in California State history. The buzz around Miles really increased during the summer before his senior season at a summer camp. A video of Miles getting the better of Rod Tidwell in passing drills ended up going viral. Of the all the offers Miles would receive he chose to stay in state and attend UCLA.

College career

Miles would begin his college football career as the starting safety as a true freshman for the UCLA Bruins in 2018. He ended the season with 67 tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 sack. His play led him to be named top defensive freshman of the Pacific-12 Conference. The following season, as a sophomore, he made the preseason watchlist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which would be given to the top defensive back in the country. His play during the season didn't live up to preseason expectations, but his overall talent and elite coverage skills still had him regarded as one of the top professional safety prospects in the country. Miles finished his sophomore campaign with 74 tackls, 1 interception, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss. Entering his junior season, Miles was honored as defensive captain, and again made the preseason watchlist for the Chuck Bednarik Award. Miles began the season with 3 interceptions in his first 3 games. However, Miles suffered a dislocated shoulder in UCLA's 4th game of the season against UNLV. That injury would keep him out the remainder of the regular season, and UCLA would go on to compete in the Sun Bowl. Miles was medically cleared to return for the bowl game, but opted not to play. Miles' senior season, he felt like he had a lot to prove. He was a preseason AP All-American, Chuck Bednarik favorite, and defensive captain, but still felt like he hadn't showcased his potential. His senior year was the best of his college career. 71 tackles, 7 interceptions, 2 sacks, 2 force fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 2 touchdowns. Miles would go on to be named the Chuck Bednarik Award winner, a Heisman finalist (4th place), 1st Team All-American, and draft stock that would skyrocket.
