Corran Leeds West (born February 22, 2017) is an American football cornerback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for University of Texas (UT).

Early years

Born in Scottsdale, AZ, Corran grew up a Cardinals fan. His heroes would be people like Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson, who inspired his number and game. At 13 years old, he moved to Seattle for middle school. After that, his family moved to Oklahoma when he was a sophomore. While he didn't play football that year, his junior year he decided to try. Donning number 21, he made his way on to the team. Corran's raw speed quickly set him apart from everyone else. He played both HB and CB, though, when needed, he would play WR and PR. He was faster than everyone else there and quickly raced his team to back to back state championships. It was like no one could touch him. One second he is given the ball, the next he is in the end zone. Nobody could keep up. While only playing for two years, Corran earned a 5 star recruitment rating. He winded up committing to University of Texas because of their excellent engineering program.

College career

In his freshman season, Corran made the team. He wasn't skilled enough to play HB and he didn't have the hands to be a top WR. He would play as wr4 on shot plays throughout his college career though. So he was fully transitioned to CB. He didn't waste too much time getting going. He recorded 38 tackles and 1 interception that year and established a place on the defense. UT went 8-4 that year, going 7-2 divisionally. They made the Big 12 championship against Oklahoma, a team they had upset on the road earlier that year. They got blown out of the water. OU went to the cfb playoffs so they played in the Sugar Bowl, and lost handily. That year, UT had an easy schedule that let them go that far. They had many holes in their defense though. Going into his sophomore year, Corran was joined by Safety Wally Halcyon, a gifted athlete who would go on to choose basketball over football. He was also joined by Abdul-Jabbar Abid, a Defensive End who would become the other half of the defense. The three of them would be the basis for a very good defense that would be the top defense in the league for two years straight. With expectations high, they entered the year ranked number 19 in the nation. However, the offense imploded. They winded up struggling to an under performing 7-5 record. Oklahoma State beat them in the second to last week then won Bedlam to slip into the championship game against Baylor. Corran recorded 42 tackles that year along with 3 picks. They would win a tight Cheez-It bowl against Utah, in OT. After losing their senior qb, a lot was on the line for Corran's junior year. But the HB had major development and the team exploded, A big sign of progress was when they won the Red River Rivalry 28-13. This year Corran really added to his resume. He was already considered a great cornerback and returner, He made a name for himself as a lockdown cb that took opponents out of the game and as the best PR in CFB. Going into the second to last week of the season, they faced Baylor. Both teams were undefeated. Texas was #1 in the nation while Baylor was #4. They knew they would face again for the Big 12 championship. In the last 2 years, the Texas-Baylor game had become very entertaining. Baylor had Mark Walker, a star WR who matched up well with Corran. Texas' pass defense was ranked #1 in the country. Baylor had the #1 ranked pass offense. Texas won a tight game, They were undefeated going into the big 12 championship game against 11-1 #12 Baylor. But Baylor, needing something big, showed up. Corran played poorly and allowed an incredible 173 yard, 3 touchdown game by Walker. Baylor easily outplayed Texas, embarrassing them. UT would end the season ranked #8 in the nation, They would win the Alamo bowl against Oregon. That year, Corran had 56 tackles and 2 picks, He also had 1 pick 6. As a senior, he once again showed up. Texas was, for the second year in a row, the best passing defense in the nation. They played well, but lost a game to Auburn. A game with Baylor mid season nearly cost them a second game, but they won by 3. They were 11-1 and ranked #10 nationally going against 11-1 #18 Baylor. In a great game, Corran won this battle. Walker recorded only 1 catch for -2 yards. This shutdown of their star player led to a 17-3 Texas victory. UT barely missed the playoffs, ranked 5th. They played in the Sugar Bowl against #8 Alabama, the SEC runner up. It was a tight game but, in 3OT, Texas pulled it out 24-21. Corran got an undergraduate in aerospace engineering before declaring for the draft, That year, he had 38 tackles and 1 interception. He winded up being known as one of the best shutdown corners in the nation, being able to fully take out star WRs from a game, His speed and hustle allowed him to reach the ball almost every play. And while his bad hands prevented him from many picks, he was still an NCAA great. He also led the league in punt return touchdowns and yard for the last 2 seasons, generating a lot of their points and offense.
