Charlie Day (born January 9, 2009) is an American football kicker/punter for the Kansas City Coyotes of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for Penn State (PSU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Day was the result of a one night stand. Charlie's mom was never around and he would commonly find himself roaming the streets of Philadelphia. This tortured him and lead him to become obsessed with kicking. Day would frequently run from cops after busting windows or causing ruckus by kicking rocks and cans at people. The cops eventually made him start kicking footballs so he wouldn't break windows. Day likes to credit the cops with his success in the football league. Without the right guidance, he says me may have ended up working at some random bar and sniffing glue.

Day's High School career was a unique one as he joined his freshmen year having no prior football time under his belt. He simply had practice from the time the cops had spent with him helping him with his technique and skill. Days high school was not a big football school and he was able to get the starting position as kicker and punter with ease. Day kicked 7 game winning field goals in his 4 years and was on the team when they achieved their best record of 8-2 and won their only state playoff game to date.

Charlie Day's most famous moment was when he went viral kicking, and successfully making a 52 yard field goal. This feat doesn't sound too crazy, but he was able to achieve this by spinning the ball out of his hands while blindfolded. When interviewed about this, Day admits that it wasn't a one in a million single try event, but wouldn't elaborate on how many tries it had taken.

College career

Day went into college with a bang. As a freshmen, he won the starting position halfway through the season after the starting kicker lost his leg in a boating accident. Day ended his freshmen season 10 of 12 on field goals and 10 for 10 on extra points. The rest of his college career was quite successful for Day going 28 of 35 on field goal attempts. Day even became a prominent piece of the game when he ran two successful fake kick passes in back to back games helping lead his team to victory both times. Day went 5 for 9 on passing attempts for a total of 13 yards in his four years.

Besides playing football in college, Day was an active member of the athletic community at Penn St. Day would be known to frequent the other sporting events and be seen leading the chants and cheers for his team. He was well known to end up shirtless with some sort of painting on his stomach related to the sport he was at. Into his senior year, it would be common for upwards of 10-12 trying to paint one giant picture across their stomachs with day.

Professional career

Day was picked up by Kansas City after week 10 and was immediately placed as the starting kicker. In interviews after his first game, he admitted to his first game as being the most intense moment of his life so far. Day is quoted as saying " I don't really know how I got here. Since leaving college, it all just feels like a blur and suddenly BAM! I am part of a DSFL team going to kick my first field goal. Then BAM! I am now the guy that missed their first ever goal attempt." Day didn't seem to upset by missing a kick and instead is taking in stride showing his need for improvement.
